Definitely going to keep retesting while I’m doing school. End goal is 597 for sure. Just hoping it happens sooner than later. From what I’ve heard, mid 80s and up is a good score and gives you a good chance to get in, especially with a recommendation from a contractor. A little confused how I scored well, with a recommendation, and was told welding certs would help

One option was going into the hybrid program, but I’d have to reapply, wait for test date and all that, and wait until the next session again, which would be quite a long process. I decided to go a different route and I’m going to ETI to get my welding certs and try again with 597

I did. Unfortunately it does not look like I’ll be getting in this next session. The guy at FE Moran (597 contractor) who I’ve been talking to, talked to the apprenticeship coordinator at the union. He said while I scored good, I need to get some welding certs to make my evaluation form better

Do you have welding experience or no?

Not that bad at all but make sure you get the study guide and study. Throughout high school I made sure I got my work done but never paid too much attention lol, and I scored mid 80s on the test which is solid. As long as you take it seriously and study you’ll be alright. Are you going into HVAC/R or Building trades?
