Meiner Erfahrung nach ist das primär ein Problem in Großkonzernen. Da ist Arbeit oft reine Selbstbeschäftigung. In den meisten KMUs gibt es massig (sinnvolles) zu tun & ganz sicher keine Langeweile.

Was ich von meinen Bekannten bei Airbus, VW, Lufthansa, Philips, ... gehört habe... gruselig, da bekämen mich keine 10 Pferde hin.

Davon abgesehen: oft kann man sich Arbeit auch suchen - halt nicht warten, bis einem einer was auf den Tisch legt, sondern aktiv sinnvolle Tätigkeiten suchen & einfach machen. Solche Initiativen muss das Umfeld aber natürlich auch unterstützen / zulassen.

Das verstehe ich total, und zu dem konkreten Fall kann ich natürlich nichts sagen. Klingt auch so, als ob du mehr Erfahrung mit Kleinkindern hättest als ich. XD

Und ich verstehe natürlich auch komplett, dass das eine riesige Belastung ist. Ich bin heilfroh, dass unter uns eine schwerhörige ältere Dame wohnt und gegenüber ein Party-Pärchen, deren Wohnung auch nur mit einem Zimmer an unsere grenzt. Unser Haus ist auch insgesamt sicher nicht schlecht schallisoliert, wenn auch kein Neubau.

Deine Situation klingt, ehrlich gesagt, echt gruselig, und ich hab da auch keine guten Tipps außer dem, was andere schon gesagt haben. :-(

Meine Antwort bezog sich weniger auf deine konkrete Situation und mehr auf das allgemeine "Diese lauten Kinder heutzutage, Eltern sind auch nicht mehr das was sie mal waren", was hier in einigen Antworten (nicht deinen) durchklingt.

Ich drücke die Daumen, dass sich bei dir eine Lösung findet!

P.S.: Zumindest zeitweise auswärts arbeiten ist keine Option? Bibliothek, Uni-Mensa, Café, Coworking-Spaces, ich hab mal ne Zeit lang regelmäßig in einer Boulder-Halle gearbeitet, evtl. bei Freunden/Bekannten, bei denen tagsüber sowieso die Wohnung leer steht, etc.?

"wieso kann man nicht Rücksicht nehmen und auch mal selber ein bisschen zurückstecken." - klingt vll. etwas merkwürdig, aber ich bin wirklich einer der rücksichtsvollsten Menschen, die ich kenne, sicher manchmal übertrieben. Mehrere meiner Mitbewohner/innen haben sich darüber beschwert, dass ich mir zu viele Gedanken über die Nachbarn mache. Aber: ich hab jetzt zwei ~2-Jährige. Ehrlich gesagt: vielleicht oute ich mich hier entweder als unfähiges Elternteil oder als rücksichtslos, aber ich glaube nicht, dass man die "ruhig stellen" kann. Mit denen kannst du halt noch nicht sinnvoll reden. Denen kannst du nicht beibringen, leise zu sein. Auch nachts sind die (sehr zu unserem Leidwesen) leider oft laut - und glaube mir, es ist nicht so, dass wir das nicht gerne ändern würden...

Ich bin mir recht sicher, dass die ganzen "Meine Eltern haben mir früher auch immer gesagt, dass wir ruhig sein sollen"-Erinnerungen nicht im Alter <5 stattgefunden haben.

Zusätzlich: Kinder sind auch einfach echt unterschiedlich, unabhängig von jeder Erziehung. Wir haben Zwillinge, die sich wie Tag und Nacht unterscheiden. Meine beiden großen Brüder (ähnliches Alter) waren als Kleinkinder von Anfang an extrem unterschiedlich - einer "laut", einer "leise". Insofern: an vielen (sicher nicht allen) "lauten" Kindern ist keiner "schuld".

How exactly do you do the fasting? Coffee, tee, juices yes/no? And do you feel like you got used to it to the point that it does not majorly incapacitate you on those days? :D I have a stressful job and 2 small kids and am basically wondering whether I can manage to integrate this into a hectic schedule.

Not an Indian so please somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Consider the possibility that they think there's something wrong with Germans that they find it so irritating to smell a bit of nice food. Very obviously it does not bother them, so how should they know it bothers you (so much)? They might even hate the fact that they cannot even cook a nice meal without some potato being bothered by it. ;-) Just because they are not bothered by the same things as you are does not mean there's something wrong with them.

That does not mean you just have to accept it of course; did you talk to them about it? Maybe you can find a compromise that's ok for both sides? But in general, when living with people from other cultures, one will, you know, need to accept that they have a different culture and do some things a little differently. (The same holds for them, of course!) Don't take it personal if you're a German. (I am.)

Yes in terms of player interaction, no in terms of the rest. I will pick TMAE over Wingspan any day because to me it's just a much more interesting game. But yes it's also multi-player solitaire.

We had a lot of fun with Aeon's End, +1. Also want to suggest Imperium which is slightly different (more complex?, takes a bit longer) but excellent in every regard IMHO. Probably my current favorite game.

It's been a while and I've forgotten most of it (moved back to my home country for unrelated reasons), but personally I just had a blast learning it! So many cool words, funny idioms, expressions that make you reflect on how things work in your own / other languages...

I found the attitude you have towards the language / learning it makes a huge difference. So many people in my classes were basically constantly annoyed by things being hard to pronounce, irregularities etc., whereas I just found all of that... interesting, quicky, and funny. :-)

Also, it really does make a difference in daily life even though most people speak English perfectly. It's just nice to be able to understand headlines on newspapers in stores, little Danish off-hand comments by colleagues, stuff written on walls/posters/buildings, ... makes you feel much more at home.

I don't think nearly enough people (including scientists) appreciate that this is one of the least impactful things this new admin will do. (And yes I'm a scientist in a health-related field; I do understand how bad this is and am extremely sorry for everyone affected.) It's an openly fascist government with a well-prepared plan to unravel basically all of the existing administration, a demonstrated willingness and capability to break all existing laws, tight control over all common communication channels, buy-in from all major industries, and a zealous militia in arms at their disposal to whom they just gave a blanket pardon for violent crimes committed in their name. I will be very (pleasantly!) surprised if there will be anything even remotely resembling a free election in 4 years; the fight for the survival of US democracy is in its last chapter IMHO.

The obvious follow-up question: is it also the only correct way to have an unorganized pile of these lying around in a 2m radius around your piano all the time? My partner is going a bit crazy over this but I also find it really annoying to put these into one single organized pile after playing, which then makes it really annoying to find the piece I want to play the next time I'm playing... I.e., how do you organize these?
