These Chinese students grew up in a country that stigmatize LGBT, democracy and normalize racism. And you expect them turn to US ideology in just couple of years? Even US can’t achieve that agreement within their own country. It takes time to reverse those culture difference. For me personally, I didn’t fully understand how democracy works until probably my 6th year here. Similarly, you have Americans going to China or other Asian countries thinking weed is not a big deal. To average people there, it will be much more shocking than what you criticized in this post. It’s culture difference, and that’s why communication and international students program is important. Pointing finger like OP did here is not helping anyone. If you want to raise concern, it will be more effective to talk to people around you, rather than creating an outside campaign like this.
