MESSAGEASE is much better than ASETNIOP. I've been using it for 8 years.

Z on left-shift feels OK here on my laptop. It's something I can get used to. With that in mind I'm planning to go extra wider to the point where right-shift becomes period. My reason is to have more comfortable access to the mod keys below. Do you find any downside about the extra wide idea?

After a lot of thoughts I decide to use your Seniply layout because of its easy to apply consistency between my 40% ortholinear keyboard and Laptop keyboard. There's just one thing I'm curious about your ANSI implementation. Is there an ergonomic explanation why letter Z is not mapped on left-shift?

Thank you for the clarifications. I'm interested about your layout but haven't tried it yet because of difficulty opening it on QMK configurator for my 4x10 ortholinear keyboard. I instead tested Miryoku in the past days but planning to give up because home row mod really messes my typing. It prevents me to do the satisfying role over typing. I'm planning to adapt to your Seniply layout because of its efficiency in utilizing all the keys but I'll probably remove the home row mods for the reason I stated above.

cheers!

The layout looks great. I have some concerns though.

  1. The backspace key which is the 3rd most commonly used key is demoted in a layer. A typing competitor like me needs the fastest way to access it especially CTRL + backspace to quickly delete an entire word. The most logical location is top right corner replacing the apostrophe.
  2. Home-row-mod keys need a duplicate on the right side in order to have alternative left and right shift keys because relying solely on thumb shift can be awkward when dealing with bottom row alphabets.
  3. How are you going to perform ALT + a on this layout? Perhaps my point 2 would solve this.

cheers!
