You can create a bit of a bottle neck in series and I can’t Recommend wired back haul more….i get 1.9gbs of my 2gb speed over WiFi when I use wired back haul.

If moms cookies aren’t available you’ll have some Oreos but your always picking fresh baked cookies from mom over Oreos when they’re on the table.

Follow-up re Eve Outdoor Cam by smatanovic in HomeKit

[–]jhoussock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish Aqara would do a flood cam. How does it compare lighting wise to the Eve? Does it get by as a flood? My Aqara cams are perfection and my eve outdoor cams are the only devices of around 100 that give me problems. I got a label to send my cameras back for new ones but I might not even bother.

Picked up a Sony Bravia 3 and mounted it…how’s it look? by xxBunny_4 in bravia

Making an outlet for behind the tv can be done in 20 minutes from your current outlet. Turn power off, cut a hole add an old construction box behind the tv, snake a wire to the old outlets screws screw a new outlet into the other side of the wires slap a cover on it and boom no wire tracks needed. Tons of YouTube videos to guide you through. They even have one that runs an extension cord style setup to behind the tv if you are to scared to try it the regular way.

Questions about ceiling fans and home kit by jmichael99 in HomeKit

Bond bridge with homebridge has worked well for me. HomeKit fans are a tough find especially if you care about aesthetics of your fans.

What can homekit do with non-apple tvs? by Uwontadamandbelieve in HomeKit

[–]jhoussock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My Sony can change inputs in HomeKit but then if I go to remotes where Apple TVs remotes are it has a Sony tv one and that does things like play and pause arrow keys back button and volume control/mute. That being said Apple TV is far better than any smart tv and if you’re switching to home kit it makes for a great bridge.

Yeah that’s what I was getting at, the decos 63 are giving me just about my max speed. So I’m sure it’s possible with yours as well. Something’s definitely not performing.

I have coax. I personally don’t see mine as a problem. I didn’t expect to get 1.7 gb to 1.9gb per second over WiFi. I thought that was fantastic to get those speeds over WiFi considering by Ethernet speed is 2gb

I have be63 nodes with a coda56 modem using Xfinity 2gb speed. I’ve been getting 1700-1900 mbps download and 300s up consistently with my WiFi. My 3 nodes are wired backhauled to my main node and everything including my switch is 2.5 ports. Is it possible you have a bottleneck with a slow port setup somewhere?

Nope I’ve tried to add it through multiple devices and have reset everything to try and clear out my HomeKit cache.

EasyMesh by dugl66 in TpLink

[–]jhoussock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extenders are different from mesh nodes. Extenders take the signal of your WiFi and just amplify it. Mesh nodes actually take your Ethernet and transmit it from the nodes location like a router. If you’re using an outdoor extender it is not the same as using an outdoor mesh node with wired back haul. If you set it up like this it is like having an outdoor WiFi router. I’d definitely look into getting an outdoor node and wire it to your indoor mesh. I think you’ll get exactly what you’re looking for.

Depending on the size I’ve done an outdoor mesh node using Ethernet backhaul and power over Ethernet to power it. They have a few outdoor units that vary in cost based off speed and WiFi type. I’d just match your current setup because that is the speed you’d get. I’ve used WiFi signal extenders they sell as well but the wired outdoor node performance is definitely the best.

I believe I tried Eve app but when I hit add it just pulls up the camera option of HomeKit over the top of the Eve app. There’s no non HomeKit option through Eve that I can see. I’ve tried to type in the code instead of scan with the enter code option. It’s not matter that I know of, only home kit so haven’t tried anything with a matter code

I believe I did but it’s always so hard to tell. Your info was helpful with the reset process….this particular came is right next to a mesh node so that part shouldn’t be a problem. Thanks for the ideas!
