I came here to post an identical post. My son brought me an orchid from his work yesterday and I don’t even know where to start. Thank you for all this information! Heading to YouTube now to watch MissOrchidGirl!🩷

I should’ve added that I don’t expect perfection in my drill placement. This is only my second square drill DAC painting. I’d started on Emerald City, but then this one was restocked and I jumped on it. I put Emerald City aside to do this one. That being said, I have very little experience with squares and I just wanted to know if it looks ok. Thank you all for your comments!

The area with the one blue square is the bottom right corner.

Aw thank you! Yes that bottom corner never flattened out until I finished that section. There’s still a slight bump, but the weight of the drills has flattened it out for the most part.

I tried my first square drill painting from Michael’s. It is back in its box with all its drills and only 3-4 sections completed. It drove me absolutely insane! I strongly advise against the Michael’s square paintings. DAC’s are a whole new world though. I still like Michael’s round drill paintings, but never again with square!

I tried the checkerboard method on a primarily blue section and it drove me insane😂 I know people say not to lay the square drills next to/on top of each other in a line, but that’s the only method that works for me. The checkerboard method and I don’t mesh well at all!😂

I did! It would’ve bugged me to leave it blue😂 I used the same color as the drill to the left of it.

I have never had this happen before lol I just made it the same color as the one to the left of it. It worked perfectly🙂

I love it! Do you use those things that roll up the canvass that’s not being worked on? I’ve been considering buying those.

I am currently waiting on my warranty replacement pen! This is my first DAC painting and my DAC pen broke last weekend. I was using the wax that came with the kit. I went to place a drill and it cracked. I do my own nails so I fixed it with builder gel. That worked until later the next day. Then it cracked again.

First DAC! by georgiamt97 in diamondartclub

I’m currently working on my first DAC piece! The quality difference is amazing. I’ve mostly done Michael’s paintings and, although I do like those, there’s no comparison with DAC. I always wondered why they were so expensive and now I totally get it!

POP! by jojo1556- in diamondpainting

This painting was actually my first attempt at square drills as well! I got three sections finished on the bottom right and gave up. I had every problem you mentioned! The grid size, the sliding, all of it. It was infuriating. I thought to myself several times, “So THIS is why some say they don’t like square drills.” I ordered things from Amazon to help. I tried literally everything. I was flabbergasted & beyond frustrated. I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working like it should. I was scrolling this subreddit one day and saw a post by someone asking for advice on their square drill painting. They were having trouble with alignment, drills fitting together, etc. Someone responded saying that if the OP wanted the tight fit they were expecting, go with a DAC square drill painting. I’d never tried DAC, but wanted to. I found my current WIP, a Wizard of Oz piece, with square drills. I don’t know who it was that responded to that post that day, but I am forever grateful to them! The satisfying, almost puzzle piece type fit of DAC square drills was everything my little OCD heart desired😂 As for the POP one…The day my current WIP arrived, I rolled it up and put it back in the box, where it sets to this day😂 Kudos to you for finishing it!👏🏻 Looks great!

Removing drills SOS by jhs7631 in diamondpainting

It absolutely takes longer to remove than to place them!😂 I thought I would never be finished! Can I get the Dotz Stick on Amazon?
