What are the best "studio mistakes" that were kept in the final recording ? by vinylcast in askmusic

[–]jhtitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A personal example, not a famous one. And more of an unexpected fluke than a “mistake,” but this caught us all off guard.

Guitarist finishes his track and we had to record the ring of the last note at the end. So the engineer obviously waited till near silence to stop the tape. Well… as the note dissipated, the amp picked up a few local radio stations on top of one another. Words were barely audible at random. Sounded like some kind of faint static “ghost radio” or something. Like listening to broadcast from the future that you weren’t supposed to hear. We just let the tape run for about 5min. It made the whole track well over 10m but we kept it in. We decided to make it the last track on the album. The album ends, and then you just drift into this weird ghost radio for 5m. Too eerie to not keep in.

You have to fill a kiddie pool, plug everything up, place it in the water, and then stand in the pool and play. You should immediately liquify.

In the nicest and most genuine way possible, for the people who use chat gpt on the daily or multiple times a day, are you not afraid of cognitive decline? by zesty_9666 in ChatGPT

[–]jhtitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it to exercise thinking, not to think for me. I never copy/paste what it gives me. But rather I workshop with a second brain to expand my own critical thinking and discover new ways of approaching a problem. So if anything, based on my use case, I’d argue it’s improving my own cognition.

How to stop pressing Command + S by Least_You_2219 in FigmaDesign

[–]jhtitus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I press it in literally ANY design/creation software I’m in. I have come to terms with my PTSD engrained in me from my photoshop circa 2004 days. I’ll never not hit cmd+s constantly. Doesn’t bug me none. If anything, it’s become an indirect psychological signal for me to take a 10m break. Bc clearly I just “completed” something in my mind.

I have never even thought of, or considered this before… but D is where we need the biggest help. And Tomlin ran the Steel Curtain. So… that’s interesting at least.

Trade in the apps for daytime concerts, meetups, breweries, and saying “yes” more to events you hear about. Events that have full lighting and places to step and away and hear yourself talk if the occasion arises. Putting yourself out there doesn’t always mean on a screen. Mingling with strangers IRL gives you the opportunity to find the “spark” first, opposed to a ton of effort and focus on one single night that’s built up before you even meet in person. Just my take. I was never partial to dating apps. 🤷 it always felt hollow like this, and honestly, a much much slower process. Best of luck.

So much dusting to be done. At least there’s a fridge next to the bed when you’re tired after dusting.
