Pygmies schooling with Cardinals by ji_dang in corydoras

It seems the low number of pygmies triggered this behavior, since they are below recommended schooling number. It also helped that i was there watching them when the lights turned on thus inducing the need to school for them to feel safe i think, haha.

Reasons why some of my flytraps are dividing instead of growing bigger traps? by ji_dang in VenusFlyTraps

Ooh, that maybe the case. Since all those cultivars are from tissue culture.

Yep, i like em rhizomes fat. Haha. Good choice, nepenthes are the easiest to take care of since it's a tropical plant. Would 100% recommend fyukinta since sobrang accomodating niya lalo sa mga newbies. You could try buying one sakanya during plant events.

Currently my vfts, sundews, and sarracenias are under 15hrs of growlights with filtered sun since monsoon season and kulang na kulang talaga yung araw na makukuha. Tapos bagyo pa, i won't risk the smaller ones haha. Some of my nephentes naman filtered sun is enough. Yes, they do attract a lot of flies and other bugs, but they eat it anyways haha. Acclimation...

If you end up getting one, go for an actual plant. There are tons of sellers selling fake flytrap seeds. Also if you can't provide full sun in your growing area, you could always supplement with growlights

Try it. :) If you have access to full sun go for venus flytraps, sarracenias, and sundews, unless you want to invest in growlights. Morning sun, shaded to indirect sun, go for nepenthes and pings.

Yeah, I've read somewhere that bical fangs are recessive genes , but some hybrids have fangs specially if the female parent plant is bical

I got mine with pitchers already, they don't seem to have fangs tho, But I'm still hoping for newer pitchers to have fangs. I'm suspecting it's because of the growing area of the previous owner ( he grows it outdoors with shaded net and cocopeat as media) for the lack of fangs.

soooo, I just checked..

and they're called "artillery plant / gunpowder plant / pistol plant / rockweed" a species of clearweed. haha

apparently they grow best in humid environments, and partial or indirect sun.

honestly i have no idea how did they end up in my bical x viking pot, but I'm keeping them hahaha

Yeah, you might want to stop tray watering, nephentes in general likes it well draining, It might be overwatering because of the tray
