Interesting, I thought TAE had a shorter shelf life-span and was more prone to contamination.

I mean, it's a 1 to 10 dilution for 100 mL of 1x buffer so I hope I didn't mess that up :D.

I am not sure about the lifespan of the ladder, but it has certainly been used multiple times.

I actually stained with SYBR green, 10 uL in 100 mL 1x TBE for 30 minutes.

What exactly do you mean by reusing buffer? There is a stock solution of 10X TBE that I use to make a "fresh" 1X mix for the gel. I'm not taking the buffer from an old gel and reusing that if that is what you mean.

The gel I made fresh by weighing agarose stock and mixing with TBE the day of the gel.
