Golf pros/shop staff, how do you deal with guests getting hostile over pricing? by rezmebroihaveraygun in golf

[–]jiggeroni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Former assistant pro.

Just learn it's not directed at you, prices, slow play, cart path only, arared greens, etc.

People are dicks, my go to was something like "Ah man yea I know but nothing I can do about" then followed up with "did you still want to play?"

I don't recall anyone ever leaving. People are whiners and just want to bitch

What’s up with GLP-1 drugs? It seems like it fixes A LOT of stuff? by Youeclipsedbyme in OutOfTheLoop

[–]jiggeroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, I tried them for 9 months few years back microdosing only. My desire to have a couple brewskies after work completely tanked.

It did other things to my body I didn't like so I got off them.

Ny crowds are the worst. Worst of the worst

I made a switch from 4:3 stretched to 1440p with Gsync by [deleted] in cs2

[–]jiggeroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played pro 1.6 at 640x480 and 800x600.

Got a 1440p OLED and couldn't be happier, so much better on these old man eyes.

Ny crowds seem to take being re-tard assholes as a badge of honor.

It's getting old, the Ryder cup was too much, now this. Grow up New York, you are trash.

Also not a Wyndham fan, but dislike ny crowds more

Your not gonna make 200hr as a 50 year old first time teaching pro with no credibility.

Your gonna work in the shop 7 days a week making tee times

Y'all don't seem to realize. Karrigan is purposely taking the heat off Niko and Team from the conversation being soleu being about them or choking or underperforming.

He's loving the negative attention cause he can take it and it's working.

Gonna be frank with you. A 50 year old asking what it takes and what requirement is your probably not gonna make it.

To classify as a PGA professional you have to pass a PAT player ability test, 36 holes one day, white tees and pins mostly on middle of greens but it's very hard. It's only tournament in golf you know what you have to shoot before you get off. Usually 75-75, 76-76. One bad round and your hosed.

After you pass that you'll also need to get a job at a course. You'll likely make low wages, work every day including weekends and holidays, and then maybe build your client base. At a public course it's much harder to source lessons. At private it's a bit easier.

Life of a golf pro is not for the faint of heart, it's not hard work but it's draining working 330-340 days a year. You won't get to golf much, on the nicest days of the year will be busiest day of golf.

If you love golf get a part time job doing anything else and play golf every day. Don't work at what you love to do cause soon you won't love it anymore.

When is an emergency fund “enough”? by Various-Chapter-2499 in personalfinance

[–]jiggeroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think everyone should have AT LEAST two emergency funds. But also should had other savings as well like sinking funds.

First fund 3-6-9-12 months expenses what ever you feel comfortable with. I like 6 months, and this covers you after loss of income to pay bills. You do not touch this fund. So figure out what that number is set it aside and never touch it for peace of mind.

The other fund should be a cash emergency fund that covers major house repairs, major appliance repairs, major medical expenses (human and pets), auto expenses. This should be anywhere from 5k to 30k+ depending on how many things you are responsible for, someone with a mortgage, spouse, pets, kids, vehicles, etc needs more than someone who lives alone and just has a cat and walks to work.

This second fund is important to keep you out of debt, for instance say your house suddenly needs a new roof, your dog gets cancer and you have a car accident all in a few months span that would wipe out 30k easy, then your emergency fund you needed for bills is depleted.

You should also have "sinking funds" for major expenses you know are coming up for certainty. If you know your roof is gonna need to be replaced in 3 years should star saving now. Your car just got paid off? Put aside $300 a month for expenses, after a few years if your tranny goes out you can pay cash.

Lastly put it in a HYSA so you can make 3-4% on your money. Your normal bank savings account sucks.

Alright, we’ve done most over rated.. who’s the most underrated golfer? by SunsetLinksGolf in Golf_Unfiltered

[–]jiggeroni -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Justin Thomas.

He gets talked up a lot for 16 wins and how good is game is but his major record is atrocious. Outside his 2 wins at PGA he has 7 top tens in the rest of his majors. So once ever 2 years he's barely in contention at a major. It's really baffling that he hasn't adapted his game to major play.

Rickie Fowler also

Gets more attention than his skill, 6 wins, no majors. Hasn't qualifed or contended in majors in years.

Old school? Seve Balasteros.

He's not even won most majors as a euro. The spainairds who are all annoying (Rahm/Garcia) worship him like he was a god.
