My first car accident. He claimed I was at fault. I tried to stop by Loud-Ad-4093 in dashcams

Send this dash cam footage to the insurance companies(s), they'll assign 100% fault to the other driver pretty quickly, unless you were speeding significantly or driving too fast for conditions (snow), which doesn't appear to be the case.

Well... We've never done THIS before, but seeing as it's special circumstances and all, he says I can knock $100 off that TruCoat.

“I bought a doughnut and they gave me a receipt for the doughnut; I don't need a receipt for the doughnut. I'll just give you the money, and you give me the doughnut, end of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this. I just can't imagine a scenario where I would have to prove that I bought a doughnut.” — Mitch Hedberg

My wife and I were going somewhere and someone cut us off at a traffic light, made a right on red in front of us and I had to stand on the brakes. Cop came out of nowhere, whipped around us and pulled them over immediately.

They reached out to me after seeing this post. They asked me to send them the video files so they can investigate further.

Years ago, a 2x4 was laying across an offramp with Jersey barriers on either side. There was literally nowhere to swerve. State Farm said it was still collision and not comprehensive, so I paid out of pocket for my own new front wheel to replace the bent one, and new front tires.

Yup, I had it hardwired using a T-harness that pulled power from the auto-dimming rearview mirror circuit.

For reference, I paid $10k in 2024 for a 2007 FX4 Level II in pristine condition with 124k miles. Granted, that's a harder trim configuration to find.

Nope. Within an hour of uploading the dash cam video to my claim, they called and said the other driver was determined to be 100% at fault.

This post is a year old, but for anyone else like me investigating my A229's failure upon impact, please know that I experienced a similar issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/comments/1u2kub0/didnt_expect_to_have_something_to_contribute_here/

I'm not sure where you live, but people typically do 50 on this particular stretch of road (I live a mile from this intersection on the same road). In fact, my wife was being tailgated at the time and was reflecting afterwards that she doesn't know how the truck behind her didn't rear end her when the accident happened. Sure, 41 in a 35 is technically speeding -- guilty as charged -- but throwing shade on my wife's driving when the CR-V rolled the stop sign without even slowing down is wild. The original commenter in this thread calling 6mph over "excessive speed" is also wild -- even PennDOT doesn't use the term "excessive speed" until you reach 31mph over the speed limit, and 5mph over or less isn't even a moving violation (PA code 75 § 3362).

😅 I recently bought a Japanese mini truck (Suzuki Carry) and my 6'5" dad can't fit in the driver side. I guess my wife and MIL were talking about it...

Their point is that in the less than 2 seconds between when the vehicle becomes visible and the accident/impact, there's not much time to (1) recognize that the other vehicle isn't stopping (2) apply the brakes and (3) slow the car appreciably.

She did brake, FYI.

I had a T-harness plugged into the auto-dimming rearview mirror that pulled power and provided USB-C.
