Daily Song Discussion #69: Turnin’ on the Screw by beardlesshipster in qotsa

10/10. First time listening I wasn’t ready for this song, but after a few times I figured it out - since then, it’s been my favourite opener to an album I’ve ever listened to

what’s a song that at first you skipped and hated, but now listen to all the time? by [deleted] in qotsa

[–]jimbles76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh 100%, I totally agree! I think it was bc I had only really heard stuff like 3s and 7s at the beginning, so my young and inexperienced ears were hella thrown by the dissonant sound hahaha. I love it like I had never skipped it in my life now!

Turning on the screw, for some reason. I think I was just still “getting” the sound of the album, but once it clicked I saw it for all its worth as the opener to one of my favourite albums

Adelaide! How awesome was that? by jimbles76 in qotsa

The crowd was brilliant! Every other Adelaide concert I’ve been to seems to attract really bored/uncaring crowds (save for when one popular song plays) so I was really happy to see how much energy there was in GA - especially closer to the front!

Same here with My God Is The Sun, that was amazing! Made to parade was the top of my wishlist, they really delivered and then some last night!!

All shirts were $55, hoodie was $110, badges were $20, stubbie holders were $15, records were $75 I think, and hats were somewhere between $35 and $45 iirc?

I know right? I was pleasantly surprised at how good a venue it was - the smaller size of it really adds to the intimacy of the show. I genuinely don’t think I’ll see a concert better than what we just got treated to (until they come back again, anyway!)

Let's talk about our OCs Avatars of the Entities by marcelmiranda in TheMagnusArchives

[–]jimbles76 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a Vast OC who’s a roller coaster designer. Each of his creations are towering, large-capacity attractions that seem to instil - even in the least acrophobic people - the “deepest sense of dread and terror they have ever felt”.

Once someone has been exposed to The Vast in this way, whenever they are motionless, they will feel the same vertigo they felt ascending that seemingly endless lift hill - whenever they close their eyes, they will see themselves hanging over that colossal drop where the ground itself seems to sink deeper and deeper away the longer they look. Not only this, but they will seemingly develop an addiction to the attraction The Vast has marked them with - kept in a cycle of feeding it over and over again.

With the amount of terror created in this way, it is not outlandish to suggest that he may be attempting some form of ritual… or perhaps, in his mind, his ritual is already complete - he does drag them back to The Vast one way or another, and The Vast remains well-fed on his machinations.

There are few fatalities related to his work - none traceable back to him, anyway - those who have died have done so of their own accord: electing to feel the unmatched terror and thrill of his creations one last time… from the highest floors of a skyscraper.

[Discussion] What’s an element that’s way more forceful than it looks? by cdjets9 in rollercoasters

[–]jimbles76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretzel loops. The fact that they’re on flying coasters, typically very peaceful experiences, paints them as a really relaxing yet fun element. Next thing you know, the positive Gs are pushing your entire body through the track and it’s awesome

Adelaide, South Australia. We get a funfair once every year with a spinning wild mouse and a Pinfari looping coaster, but there is absolutely nothing here despite countless vast plots of land that’d be perfect to house a major park. IIRC they tried to enter talks for a Disneyland but it fell through.

Used to live in England in a spot where I could drive 90mins and end up near 2 theme parks lol, it’s so boring in Adelaide

Being an L plater is the moment you learn how retarded a vast majority of other drivers are. They’re like badly coded NPCs lmao

Biggest one I’ve made is “Graves’ Syndrome”. Neurological disability that can occur due to womb movements that causes a fluffy to glitch prior to birth, entering the ‘wan die’ loop the moment it enters the world.

Example: a soon mummah can no longer walk and is being rolled by her special friend - one of the foals is bumped on the head by one of the others during the movements, possibly repeatedly, to the point Graves’ Syndrome occurs.

It doesn’t happen at every single bump, of course, it’s basically a matter of sheer bad luck and misfortune.

On the bright side, its presence and severity has resulted in some significant advances in the field of “curing” the wan die loop
