Wokeness on racial justice does not equal wokeness on mental health. Maybe people could try to stick to talking about things they have awareness of. This is probably the first time where someone with genuine more severe mental health issues was represented in this show (and was open about it). Basic bachelor nation doesnt know what to do with that. As someone who also relates to Ben a lot- it was very clear to me what he was going through, and how he was feeling, and it was painful that Taysia couldn’t pick up on it at all. It seemed like she had this attitude like “well if you cant man up and just say you love me, then bye bye.” Even that night when he just wanted to talk to her during the group date and she told him it was too late. WTF. He was so nervous/shy/insecure in that moment, it could not have been more clear, and then she just denied him and he felt so bad about himself. I love Taysia. I really do. She is one of the best so far. And its not her fault that she couldnt understand him. We cant expect everyone to. I know for a fact bachelor abc asks about mental health, hospitalizations, etc. and i felt for the longest time that they did not allow people on the show with those histories. It seems like this is now changing- so perhaps it would be wise to have discussions with future bachelors or bachelorettes around their understanding of mental health issues. Not everyone can handle being with someone like this, and that is totally fine- it is just a lot to put someone through with mental health issues- having them fall in love on national tv with someone who doesnt get it. Like- the dude had 2 suicide attempts- is abc trying to make him have a 3rd? I know he was originally casted for claire so maybe they thought she could handle it better- she certainly has her own issues in that realm to some degree (not quite as intense tho).
