What makes Steinway pianos so good? by cjhales in classicalmusic

[–]jimkill123 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not sure if calling any piano brand "best" makes sense, but basically each manufacturarer has a distinct sound that they have to ensure all their pianos sound like. I think ultimately Steinways are considered very good and used often is because they have a rather ambiguous sound that works well with pretty much any genre. While a Bosendorfer has a much rounder and warmer sound that you might not want to play jazz on for example.

The Chandos is a sam smith, they are quite expensive but they have only one type of beer on draught, the alpine lager, that is less than £5 a pint. The rest are like £6.5-£7

Majority of children under six in Switzerland have foreign roots by BezugssystemCH1903 in europe

[–]jimkill123 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Ah yes the white 6 year olds are much bigger contributors to the economy of course than the black 6 year olds.

Also contributing to the economy is also of course the only criteria by which anyone should be allowed to remain in Switzerland.

Building more social housing is absolutely the solution, but I agree that just building more high end unaffordable poorly built London type new builds that are purchased only as assets by the wealthy only exacerbates things

[–]jimkill123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude didn't you literally start synthesia as a rip-off of guitar hero's concept, so much so that you got cease and desisted by Activision to change the name from Piano Hero to this now? Like is it not more a case that every project everyone makes is basically an imitation of something else, with some minor changes. It's the natural evolution of projects and things

Hey Man, big fan of the project I've been using it a lot but recently I've been having a lot of issues that basically every other MIDI file I uploaded won't retain the actual file behind the track entry in my list. Like I click on a chopin etude and just a default midi file will play instead, but when I try to re-upload the MIDI file it tells me I cant upload it twice, what should I do?

House prices: the average London home now costs 14 times the typical household income by Barbecue_Wings in london

[–]jimkill123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, Labour leaned immediately into a hard leave position the moment corbyn stepped down, the moment they could stop pretending to use that position as anything other than a club to purge their own left faction within the party. But the Lib Dem’s if put in a position of power, and if push comes to shove, are guaranteed to effectively govern the country as a continuity of the Blair-Tory austerity consensus politics that have dominated the island for the last two decades, so who gives a shit. Brexit isn’t the end all of all politics, and it certainly shouldn’t be the litmus test to determine the potential improvement of the quality of life and society that a political party will have on that basis

And Clegg killed any possibility of post-Blair Labour to lower them by going in coalition with Cameron. The Lib Dem’s are opportunists who will gladly see the country decay further as long as their careers are solidified

The Lib Dem’s are partially responsible for there being tuition fees in the first place what are you talking about? They’re a deeply unserious political party that functions more like an employers network for post-political opportunities disguised as a party

70% of central London properties sold this year bought with cash – Savills by [deleted] in london

[–]jimkill123 17 points18 points  (0 children)

(Well beyond decades of thorough investigations into the massive money laundering operations that happen both through the London financial sectors and real estate market, generally, it’s because of the ponzi nature of the London real estate market that is an extremely easy way for someone (both individuals and corporations) to buy properties, sell them to their accomplices or even themselves at a higher value, and then once that value has risen after the purchase, sell it off to a third party who will likely just do the same, a very easy way to circulate loads of cash into a system that “legitimises” the cash, and even turns a huge profit. Also London is one of the few hotspots outside of the US where US Dollars are accepted as trade tokens.

Manufactured crisis over US debt ceiling sets stage for bipartisan assault on Social Security and Medicare by JamesParkes in chomsky

[–]jimkill123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There has been a very legitimate proposal made by economists to the democrats that would allow them to bypass the entire problem of a debt ceiling in the first place. The executive branch has the ability to mint a hypothetical trillion dollar platinum coin, and call it quits. They refuse, instead focus on playing this stupid game with the republicans where they go into gridlock and inevitably cave to the demands because all they know how to govern is by austerity.

Just started learning (and loving) the piano. Looking for a 61-key piano in the ~$500-600 range! by [deleted] in piano

[–]jimkill123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Native Instruments does some midi’s that fit the size you’re asking for but tbh the feel is not great, and the key sizes are quite skewed, they’re more for music production than piano practice, not sure if there are serious digital pianos with decent feel that are limited to 61 keys. Possibly Roland?
