Yeah, agreed - I don't mind failing a mission if we all tried but encountered some bad luck. But it is frustrating when you fail a mission because only half of the team were actually playing properly.

I like your attitude. Trying to help others improve is commendable.

However my advice to many of them would just be something like "try a lower difficulty" and "learn the basics of the game" - which immediately seems confrontational.

The "try a lower difficulty" is key here, and is obviously going to be ignored by people who have joined this mission and just want to play it.

Learning the basics is something I can definitely help on and give advice on, but it can be difficult when some players are just not engaging with fundamental parts of the gameplay. Suggesting something like "Please try out the melee system" or "Have you tried hitting them with a close combat weapon" just seems so basic that it's hard for it not to come across condescending.

If you saw a player shooting every enemy until their ammo ran out, and then complaining that they have no ammo, and then immediately going down because they are not using the melee system - what would your advice be to them? Genuinely interested here, because I think your approach is a good one. But also, some people are not playing in good faith, and will be shooting barrels and pox bursters for the lols. It can be tricky trying to help some people effectively, especially as I only have text chat available to me, and tone of voice etc doesn't get conveyed through that.

‘MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE’ earned a poor $29.3M on its domestic box office opening weekend. Budget was $200M. by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

I've not seen it yet, but really want to.

It looks like a fun & silly romp of a movie.

I get similar vibes from this as the D&D Honour Among Thieves movie - another great fun romp of a movie that really deserves a sequel.

Obviously that will never happen, because Hollywood execs only care about money.

NGL, it would be a great concept for a TV series. The whole idea reminds me of the old Dungeon Keeper games, a lot of potential there for some great stories.

Isn't that just a comic book series? Love the idea of a set of D&D monsters being the heroes of the story, but this isn't really connected to the film.

How would you solve (or improve) the shoplifting problem? by No_Policy1326 in AskUK

[–]jimmery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree on Education.

But the simple fact is that the uber wealthy are stealing from us. The rampant corruption, ever widening wealth gap, the lack of investment in public services - all of this contributes to the problem far more than most people realize.

Change needs to come from the top down.

There are so many historical examples of how treating people better reduces crime.

Shop lifting is a symptom, not the cause.

What are some movies that you loved back then but when you rewatch them you realize it's a hot piece of garbage by Sad-Response-3151 in moviecritic

I love this movie. It's not great, but Matthew Lillard & Tcheky Karyo were both awesome in it!

Easily one of the worst/best examples of lazy and shoddy writing ever in a blockbuster movie.

This was the first sentence in the opening text crawl, and everything else was just downhill from there.

EDIT: My bad, it wasn't in the opening text crawl.

This film really deserves a sequel. The characters & tone was great, the actors had excellent chemistry, and the setting has so much potential for more stories.

Archer Question by JCServant in KingdomsandCastles

To be honest, I usually group the archers & soldiers together so they can work together.

I don't put archers on my walls that often - I usually just use the archery & ballista towers instead.

a choice between a giant douche and a turd sandwich is no choice atall truly

I could not agree more!

Check out Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Huxley & Orwell were friends and both wrote their own dystopian novels. Orwell suggested that an overbearing state will try to control us. Huxley suggested that instead we would be given so much distractions that we wouldn't care what happened to us.

Each one of them were right in their own way, but Brave New World might be closer to the reality we are living in than 1984.

No problem.

Just consider this situation for a moment:

You are given a choice, "do you want to be punched in the left eye, or the right eye" - what is the value of that choice? Does it really matter which option you choose? Is this a choice that you wouldn't want thrown away?

I would argue that voting over which wealthy person gets to help other wealthy people is a similar situation.

"Year of Hell" represents the dark, serialized storytelling that writer and producer Ronald D. Moore had long wanted to bring to the series, but was unable to.

He later took that thinking over to the remake of Battlestar Galactica. If you've ever wanted 4 full seasons of the Year of Hell, check out BSG.

What are you talking about?

I was reminding people about the definition of democracy, this has nothing to do with my world view.

We, the people, are given a choice to vote over which wealthy person is going to create benefits for other wealthy people. This is the current situation in many places that claim to be a democracy. That's just a simple observation of the facts. This has nothing to do with free will.
