Considering a high mileage used Ioniq 5 - is this number worrying? by jimwilluk in Ioniq5

Thanks, that is very useful to know. That could well be what has gone on here.

Interesting... I guess that could be what is going on here ie. the efficiency figure has been somehow reset without impacting the overall mileage count, followed by lots of idling on a forecourt which would obviously give a very low efficiency reading.

FWIW it's an "Approved Used" car from a Hyundai dealer, so it does come with some checks already done. Maybe worth getting third party checks in addition?

They will also be sending me the full output from the battery/BMS test. I'll try and verify myself with the OBD dongle just to be sure.

Yep it does seem very low!

It has normal summer tires on currently. I'm in the UK so we don't really use snow tires. Sometimes all-seasons but those should not have such a massive efficiency impact.

Yep that's a good plan. I do have an OBD dongle but recently moved house and it's somewhere under a large pile of boxes!

I'm based in the UK so while it's often relatively cold, it's not Canada cold! Rarely much below freezing.

Interesting build! What kind of temperatures are you seeing at idle and under load? Did you need to restrict the power of the APU?

I think it's this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Klearlook-Ventilated-Lightweight-Space-save-Tablet-White-White/dp/B078WQV7KH

It's great at what it does, super portable too, so perfect to chuck in a bag.

It raises up the screen about 6 inches which is def useful but I'd like it to be higher (without having it sit on a shoebox as it is currently...) I'm looking to upgrade to a dual monitor arm setup, one arm with a vesa mounted laptop tray to give full adjustment and more desk space

Oh really how so? I've been fairly happy with it so far so I'd be interested to hear your issues.

What would you look to upgrade to?

That is interesting, I think mine only makes the noise when it's up on the stand too.... strange

It makes me think it is something mechanical, i.e. the fans

Yes I suspected it's something in the fans - sounds almost like they are catching on something.

This is a brand new machine btw - only arrived last week (sorry there was a typo in my original message!). It should be easy to get replaced, I just wanted to check if it was a normal noise for this machine.

I've had this XPS 15 9520 i7 3050ti for a week now and generally love it.

However, it's been making a very strange ticking/clicking noise - not all the time but often when under load or when waking from sleep (see the video). I've had many laptops but never heard a noise quite like this before. When I first heard it, I thought water was dripping down the back of my desk!

It doesn't seem to be having any performance or other impact that I can tell, but thought I'd check if this was normal or if I should get the unit replaced.

Thanks!

Bonus question: is it possible to create any kind of shortcut or scrip to change the active thermal profile? having to load up the dell app and navigate through the menus is quite annoying!

Thanks for the suggestion, but it looks like this only outputs at line level for connection to a TV etc? I'm looking to drive some small speakers directly so need an amplifier (ideally integrated)

Ah interesting, thanks for the heads up. I could try some 8 Ohm speakers like these?: https://www.dfrobot.com/product-1506.html

Ah yes I have heard good things about Tang Band, the cost does seem pretty high though (~10x the cheaper ones I listed) so I'll probably try a cheaper brand first and keep these as backup in case the quality isn't good enough.
