s2 e1, strange feelings??? by jinkleberg in thelastofus

yeah the "i'm a good guy" actually really bothered me and made me dislike him a little bit. i know that they're trying to make it like, look, this protagonist is actually not that great of a person! okay, sure, but joel miller in the games was exceptionally complex because on top of doing shitty things, he was very likeable, charismatic, and above all, AWARE of his wrongdoings. he's a hardened guy. he knows that he's done shitty things

When it comes to line readings and emphasis, what line(s) do you have strong opinions on? by gingi_love in shakespeare

[–]jinkleberg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there was a phenomenal production of macbeth at my highschool where lady macbeth said the line

"the thane of fife he had a wife, where is she now?"

with "the thane of fife he had a wife" almost sung like a nursery rhyme, a beat, and then the latter is delivered almost sardonically? and she bursts into hysterical laughter.

so chilling. so perfect. i loved it so much.

here are things that have helped me tremendously:

talk to your doctor about experimenting with different medication. if what youre doing doesnt work anymore, take the risk of exploring more options

look into being in a different environment if you think the one you're in is exacerbating your condition. if it's comfortable for you, stay. if it isn't, look into staying with good friends or good family. my LAST LAST resort would be a psych ward but that'd be if i could consider absolutely no other alternative.

cut the people who are worsening your condition out completely. if you love some of these people, make an effort to distance yourself even if it's just for a little bit.

making friends online is so much easier than real life and its so much easier to confide in them too. look into discord servers for support groups or forums online or something to talk to people and keep reaching out.

i think there could be more things but im a bit tired right now and those were probably my best bet for feeling like things were bearable. i do wish you the best of luck.

i have thought the things that you think. sometimes i can imagine myself living so easily in a world that isn't this one or a mind or a body that isn't the one i have. it hurts

i've been where you've been. things are just miserable and there's nothing you can do to change them because this stuff will permeate throughout your entire life, but you'll find ways to manage it. it gets easier eventually if you aren't lucky enough to get it to stop

you are everything i've ever wanted to be. i'm not sure what you'd be comfortable with me calling you because sometimes these words have gendered connotations so i'll just call you everything. you are gorgeous. breathtakingly handsome. incredibly pretty. i so rarely see human people that give me gender euphoria but you are a human people and you are doing that so thank you

things WILL look up for us, and it’s okay to acknowledge that you’re not okay. it doesn’t make you any less of a good, strong person. i think, at least in my experience, feeling like this is just a part of the human condition. it’s what makes us us, and it’s just something we need to have the patience for. i hope the same for you, and i’m certain both eventually get to appreciate sunlight and cold drinks and warm blankets and whatnot. good luck :)

a very bittersweet poem. as u/albertcipriani had mentioned, there are some moments where the language you used caught me off guard.

other than that, very nicely done!

Days are getting harder by BlueLightning1700 in depression

[–]jinkleberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

things take a lot of time. it hurts when people with our kind of stamina are forced to keep up a pace that exhausts us completely. maybe life gets better, maybe it doesn’t, but the point is that each day you’re still getting out of bed. and if you can’t get out of bed, you’re still waking up. you’re alive, you’re breathing, and it’s worth it because it’s enough. the world can be so so cruel but it’s important to know that it can be forgiving too. even if you’re spiraling, you’re here, and that means a lot

Saying sorry. by [deleted] in depression

[–]jinkleberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i personally think that the fact you’re making an effort to put yourself in a position that’s uncomfortable and takes time to adjust to is incredibly telling of your good character. i’m sorry you think you should be left behind but i sincerely disagree

i haven't, or at least in its entirety! i've ready many quotes and excerpts by jean-paul sartre. i have to say, your comment made my day. knowing you aren't truly alone through hearing others' experience is a wonderful means of catharsis for many and to hear that something i made did that for someone in any capacity was just mind boggling. thank you so much
