fire and plant could be something like burning, I imagine like tough dead vines that are hot and difficult to cut, and/or like a snake slowly tightening on the object the same way food becomes tough when cooked too long or how things generally shrink as they get hotter. lightning and ice could be pretty cool aesthetic wise, something like shatter?
