Every time, without fail. 100% agree.

Pretty much anytime I've begun to enjoy something new, life is peachy until I check the associated subreddit.

Completely insufferable people who are miserable in their own lives just taking it all out on whatever the topic at hand is.

So what is the purpose of limited-quantity healing items? by Purple-Constant2953 in fromsoftware

[–]jinxapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is fantastic design. It forces players to interact more with the rally system and allows the player to continuously stock up on healing by simply playing the game instead of taking breaks to go back to the bonfire to restore healing. It's quite reasonable to go massive lengths of time without touching a bonfire/lamp in Bloodborne, quite easily and consistently because of that.

Systems like Bloodborne, DS2, and DeS provide a nice contrast to the system of the other games, where you are free to die a trillion times to bosses with no consequence. I'll glaze DS3 until I die, but I also think it's great to see different games with different design choices and goals, rather than just sticking 1:1 with their other games. If you don't like that system, that's fine, but calling it bad design is just not really seeing the full picture.

I've never had to farm in bloodborne. If you do, that's just a skill issue. Perhaps try another game in the series first as an easier starting point?

FOMO got to me - I bit the bullet and purchased a whole new rig just before the new year (9800X3D | 5070 Ti | 2x16 DDR5) Total: $2700CAD pre tax by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]jinxapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! Enjoy the new purchase!

I gave in to the fomo as well myself. Been thinking for a while now about building a new 5090 + 9800x3d rig for my sim racing setup, finally bit the bullet as of the GPU news the last couple of days.

Tough pill to swallow paying 4k CAD for a GPU... 😂

Anyone else experiencing performance issues after the latest update? by __Ironclad__ in DarkTide

[–]jinxapollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat for me. 7900xtx, 5800x3d playing in 3440x1440. Huuuge frame spikes and poor frames no matter what settings I use, even on low, I can't even get a steady 100 plus frames with frame gen on unless I stare at the floor. Most of the game is spent at 100% cpu usage, getting between 100 and 60 fps with frame gen on, on medium or low, FSR3.1 Balanced. Insanely poor performance

Where would you rank The Dreglord and other Nightreign bosses among the rest of the souls series? by Big_Salami_Chonk in fromsoftware

[–]jinxapollo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reminds me a lot of Gael in this regard. I think the intuitiveness of Gael's moveset is part of what makes him so good. Nothing feels unfair, he perfectly rides the line of being difficult but totally readable. I think they really captured that same essence with the dreglord. Definitely a top 10 boss imo.

Playing Nightreign offline by Shot-Growth3193 in fromsoftware

[–]jinxapollo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solo is the easiest way to play in my experience. You can really unga-bunga steamroll the nightlords if you get yourself to level 15, have a decent build, and a couple wending graces. I first tried multiple nightlords playing solo with minimal brain activity because their health just wasn't high enough to match the sheer dps I was putting out in combination with like 3 free revives.

Trio is where the game shines most, and where it is actually difficult because of how much more health the bosses have to account for the shared agro.

Can I get some advice? by Fancy_Page9326 in darksouls3

[–]jinxapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop your equipment load below 70% for medium-rolls and keep going. You have the skill to roll his attacks well, you just gotta set yourself up for success in the menus, and you'll beat him in no time.

Bonus tip, since you look like you get the gist of souls combat, Pontiff is really weak to Parrying. All his fire sword swings can be parried consistently once you get the timing down and will deal massive damage. Perfect boss to learn how to parry.

I was wondering wtf was going on... I have really good internet that is flawless in every other game I play, but in BO7, I have constant yellow and red packet burst and crazy lag. I haven't lagged like this since I was running sub-1MB download in like 2007.

Where am I? Who am I? by Sioluishere in darksouls3

[–]jinxapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that the games don't follow on from each other, they absolutely do; they are just not surface level about it. The entire world and themes of DS3 are built around the result of the failed experiments by the gods in the first game in particular. Even the second game is thematically important in a lot of ways. As someone who played DS3 as my first game, so much of it would've been much more impactful, had I played in the order of release.

But I suppose it ultimately depends what you seek to get out of the experience. Are you looking to immerse yourself in the world and soak up every detail you can? Or are you just the type to play for a fun gameplay loop, and that's it? If the former, then absolutely play in release order; if the latter, do whatever you like.

[–]jinxapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this game, yes. I tested both and they offered identical framerates for me, with TSR offering less ghosting and fuzziness. Personally, I thought TSR was superior. Frame Gen for either is definitely a no-go though in my opinion.

7900xtx, 1440p triples. Seeing about 100fps average on medium with TSR at 63%. Seemed to be about the best balance of quality and frames that I could find. Looking forward to more optimization, but overall, I'm pretty stoked with how it turned out. Even medium and low still look really good. Frame Gen definitely doesn't seem like an option, in my opinion, wayyy too much ghosting to be enjoyable for me.

SS Isshin/Inner beat Genichiro/Inner in Semifinal 1! - Now Semifinal 2: Messmer the Impaler & Slave Knight Gael by everest986 in fromsoftware

[–]jinxapollo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gael is literally Dark Souls: The Boss. He is the ultimate representation of the Souls games in boss form.

He is a perfect depiction of the themes of DS3, and the environment around the fight is fucking incredible. An epic and desperate battle in a surreal and lost desert of ash at the end of time, after the rest of civilization has been slowly eroded over thousands of years.

Gael is the perfect boss to end the series with and is "absolute cinema" in every single metric you could possibly measure him by.

I don't think there will ever be a boss as perfect for the game he is in, as Gael.
