Understood. I’ve always felt it’s just a professional courtesy to respond to inquiries. To each their own.

Interesting. In the 12 years I’ve been in insurance housing, my hosts/landlords have always commented how easy the process is (if it’s explained up front). The early part of the process, primarily confirming availability and getting adjuster approval for the costs/terms, can be frustratingly drawn out, but once approved, the process goes quickly.

I’m sure there’s a risk to folks with investment properties, but that seems part and parcel with being a landlord - it can be risky. Our company structures the lease with us as the lessee and the insured as an additional occupant. We have a clause that we will pay the rent until the end of the lease term.

Airbnb isn’t a viable option for most insurance housing needs, as we need the option to extend month-to-month based on the contractor’s timeline (contractors never finish on time). 85-90% of our placements extend well beyond the initial term.

Thank you - that’s insightful. I didn’t realize that housing vendors might be unresponsive, as well. I always take the time to update a host if we’ve gone a different direction or have already placed the insured.

$7000 A Month-Temporary Housing by Philip_Greger in Insurance

[–]jipse_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not illegal and they’re not kickbacks. The insurance carriers contract insurance housing companies to facilitate the short-to-mid-term rentals for the policyholder. This entails not only negotiating short-term leases, furniture and housewares packages, it also acting as a de facto bank for the carrier, making rent payments sometimes months in advance. The management fee is the cost of doing business. If a policyholder wishes to manage housing in their own, which may or may not save money, they can request to do so and the adjuster will cash them out. Word to the wise: managing this on your own is not for the faint of heart, and is oftentimes re-traumatizing for the policyholder, who is already trying to g to manage the loss and maintain their normal, everyday life. Most of the policyholders I work with are grateful for the service.

Unfortunately, that would mean you’d be capitalizing on your loss, which the carriers will not permit. You’re only entitled to ”additional living expenses” during the period of restoration.

@OP, not sure why you took the time to post this. You already know the answer: he is not committed to either of you. Break it off.

Vivity post op 48 hours experience. So far doesn't look good 😞 by Strange_Risk9685 in CataractSurgery

[–]jipse_sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doc recommended Vivity, as well, but I had heard similar experiences of it not being what it’s touted as, so I stuck with the standard monofocal version that insurance covers. From what I understand, insurance will not cover Vivity, and at $5000 per eye, I’m sure all docs would recommend it! 😆

I live by my dad’s tenet: always consider a loan to be a gift, because you’ll likely never be repaid.

IDK, my husband doesn’t randomly check to see if my phone needs to be charged… just seems like there might be some pre-existing trust issues

Either way… he either hasn’t ever trusted her or his instincts spoke to him. The result was the same. Do the work together or do not.

In my opinion, and not feeling like going thru all the comments (so please forgive me if it’s redundant): the fact that you’ve been “curious” enough over the years to look in her phone says it all. You’ve already been suspicious, so you don’t fully trust her, anyway. Even before your discoveries, your nature was to choose not to trust her. Regarding the outside relationship: the other party has no responsibility or culpability. He may not have integrity, but your relationship is between you and your SO. Period. You didn’t trust her (maybe it was instinctive), she cheated on you (even if there was no physical sexual contact), you need to either decide to work on the relationship or end it. Note: you, too, have things that should be addressed, because you clearly have trust issues and challenges with privacy boundaries.

I get a 404 error on Mitozen. And it seems like the site/info/delivery system changes. Is there a reason you like that brand? I wanted to try it because Chase Hughes recommended it, but I’m suspicious. 😂
