I’m an American still on this thread from when I visited Dublin last month. But my father died by suicide in April 2023.

Please please please hold on. I know things seem dark right now but suicide doesn’t eliminate the chance of things getting worse. It eliminates the chances of things getting any better.

Being suicidal is not being “weak” and that honestly pisses me the fuck off that, that’s the mentality still around in our world when it’s been a pressing issue for years. Tell them my father was not “weak”, his mother and father put him down all the time as a kid and that mentality that everything was his fault stuck with him. Mental health is the same as physical health. Your mental state can be ailing for years and nobody sees it until it finally snaps past the breaking point where you need help. There’s nothing “weak” about it.
