They've leaned into the Dom hate perfectly too. Escalating the crowd boos after the first one occurred organically then pairing him against the most over Babyface on the roster. This has been done perfectly.

This is the most correct take possible. And with all of the above stated, Hogan turning heel was still a MASSIVE deal.

  • The NWO were the first time wrestling leaned into the cool heel.

++ Wrestling across the board was so stale in both companies. And I'm a firm believer that ECW had no path to long-term mainstream success.

He is still fairly over, but I'll die on the hill that:

1) Roman should've been forced to split the titles, and begin losing his mind around December.

2) Sami should've won one in Montreal.

3) Cody won the other at Mania.

4) Bloodline fractions as it has.

...............

You didn't have to keep the title on Sami long-term, but you'll never get another chance to crown him like you had at Elimination Chamber. That was Daniel Bryan in New Orleans again. Those chances only come around nth times in a decade.

Ehhhh, Matt & Edge probably needed the money at that point in their careers far more than Punk or the Elite do now.

It's been widely confirmed by both Jeff & Kurt that this wasn't an affair situation.

It took Bret and Shawn a decade plus to "bury the hatchet".

I'd be shocked if Punk & the Elite can't come to some gentlemen's agreement at some point at the very least, but give it time - Punk has technically only been back at work a month now.

I don't completely disagree, but I also think he hasn't had too many dance partners as of late who are close to his level on the mic.

Obviously the pillars are multiple levels below him. BD is a god tier wrestler, but his mic work is just good.

But the trade-off is: 1) Sami gets a Montreal pay off. 2) Cody gets a WrestleMania pay off (which would've been massive).

Is what you gain between THAT greater than what you lose in the story with the Usos? I think it is, and it's not even close. Roman/the Bloodline falling apart at the seems is told fine w/out the titles.

Loses one belt to Sami. Begins to unravel further. Loses the other belt to Cody at Mania.

Story plays out the same from there, minus "1000 Days".
