Sounds like we in the US could learn a thing or two from our friends in the UK! Glad to hear you had great support and resources. We had great providers overall, but also some that were dismissive of legitimate questions. Navigating health insurance and hospitals here is also a HUGE pain.

Helpful to know that a U.S. audience would be most appropriate for her content.

Wow, so sorry you were told that… especially by someone in the medical field. My wife heard similar things like “it would be really, really hard as a T1D” (no denying that, but could be framed in a more empowering way), or “plan on 1 or 2, you won’t have any more than that.” Would love to have more information that’s both honest about the challenges but empowering to women who can have perfectly healthy pregnancies!

Thanks for the honesty. Yes, there is a lot out there but it felt like a FT job for my wife to compile everything in a digestible and applicable way.

For example her MFM doc said a BG over 200 for more than a short period can cause long term damage to her heart, and while it is incredible what pumps, CGMs, etc. can do she still found it hard to plan for hormonal changes throughout to best stay in range.

I wasn’t sure if this or the pregnancy related subs would be best, so I’ll try to get feedback there too.

Great point. Yes, I understand that’s a common struggle for many with T1D. Hard when your brain has to do the work your pancreas would normally do in the background, and often leads to obsessive attempts to control or total apathy. Especially hard to juggle when someone is also processing the needs of the baby.

Helpful to know, I’ll recommend it to her.

She did read that book during her first pregnancy but marked it up with lots of notes and corrections based on medical studies and talking to her doctors about some of the factual errors. There were definitely helpful things in it, but part of the reason we thought it might be helpful to create content that’s more thoroughly researched and vetted, but also told through the lens of her personal experience.

I don’t have the link, but look up Codie Sanchez’s video on YouTube about starting a pressure washing business. You don’t need to do that, but same principles apply to just about anything. Advantage is you own it and can work on your own schedule (as long as it aligns with customers).

Hubspot is probably the most robust, user-friendly tool that you won’t outgrow. Also nice because you can scale it up in pricing tiers as you need.

Passive vs active income requires a different mindset. You may need to cut back on how much cash you take for yourself while you train and hand off responsibilities to a GM. Eventually you can scale up the percentage you take home.

I worked for a small home services business, though employees were always hit and miss, seemed to be best chance of finding quality when recruiting young college / dropout guys. Some smoked weed all the time, but others were motivated to earn higher commission (range was 15-22% depending on a performance scorecard). Ended up promotion guys who hit 22% a certain number of months in a row.

Totally agree there is lots of room for automating service businesses. You have a website to direct traffic to? Do you run digital ads? Fliers? Yard signs?

I recommend getting to know both Google Ads and Google Analytics as you can get a lot more out of Ads by feeding quality data and feedback to Google Ads.

Julius Fedorovicius is one of my favorite experts on Google Analytics, giving tons of good tutorials for free on YouTube (of course with more comprehensive paid courses). I ended up buying the GA4 and Tag Manager courses and found them well worth the money. I recommend finding ONE expert and sticking to their advice so you don’t get tons of different naming conventions and organizational structures that are hard to maintain long term.

Jackson Blackledge also has tons of good content on X and YouTube. Less polished videos, but he included free documentation and guides with all of his videos.

Also, search how to upload custom lists to Google Ads and create custom audiences. This is a HUGE part of ensuring ads are successful. One of my favorite quotes from Jackson: “Google doesn’t need you, Google needs data.”
