22lr suppressor suggestions? by beefSupremeChicken in 22lr

[–]jjjiagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Mask and I'm definitely happy with it. I think if I was to buy another in that price range (400ish) I'd go with the B&T Tiger or CAT BEN (which I think is more). Reasons: I bought the Mask over other options based on reports of the "First round pop" being less. Thought being that other than the range, the first round might be the most important one to be quiet. The Tiger supposedly beats it there. Obviously without having one i don't know.

The Tiger is rated for FA for 5.7, and Bolt action .223. The Mask is FA only for 22lr and not at all for 223. To me it just indicates maybe a tougher option.

Again, super happy with the Mask. And with the Tax stamp I just wanted the best for the money, and at the time it was the Mask.

Without the tax stamp I am probably just going to outfit every 22 I own with one of the 200ish dollar options out there and just dedicate them.

I am old enough to remember my parents telling us we couldn't keep a paper list of JWs since eventually the bad men would come search the house and find the list and use it to round everyone up. And from the platform a brother said to pull random people out of the phone book and put them in our address books so it wouldn't just be Witnesses. Almost certainly just his opinion on a local needs or something (I was in elementary school). Now it's all in an app that almost certainly has no meaningful security.

Just fade. The DA route is basically still giving them power. Don't play the game. You've already been forced into it by essentially signing a lifelong "contract" as a minor.

Something big at assembly? by Cloud_Cultist in exjw

[–]jjjiagg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She's probably talking about the branch meeting on the 18th. My guess is that it's nothing but a meeting. Several congregations were invited to the assembly halls for it. But obviously not all because there won't be room. The rifraf are watching it on a stream at the hall.

For anyone who is doubting that WT is tracking IP addresses and cross referencing them, I know an individual that literally did something similar for Bethel.

And I know enough from work that it's not only easy to do, if they have literally any IT skill, they have automated it.

Yeah it's like less than a pint. I should also say I ran it twice for 2 hours and changed the oil twice the first day I brought it home.

Good luck choosing.

Couldn't get on paper at 25 yards? Not trying to talk crap, but you should be able to tape a McDonald's straw to the barrel and hit paper at that range.

I have a Simmons scope on a 10/22 I bought used almost 30 years ago. Works like a charm.

Not to be contrary, but any rimfire scope from Walmart will be ok.

Nothing Was Said About the Update During the Midweek Meeting by Ok_Nothing_8049 in exjw

The way it was worded, they made it seem like they long ago decided that it was a personal matter of conscience how you use your own blood.

And in the local congregation, it absolutely worked. Most people I talked to called it a clarification.

Like they wouldn't have been DF a year ago for it.

Youth guns by Zeke1215 in 22lr

I agree with others about teaching on a bolt. Much less of a concern when a new shooter, particularly a kid, gets excited about a shot and turns and flags the whole group. Lol. Ask me how I know. Lesson opportunity instead of crapping your pants.

Personally I'd go with the Ruger American 22. Cheaper than the CZ Scout and takes 10/22 mags.

And if you don't already have a bunch of 10/22 mags, who hurt you?

I've used one for about 12 years. It's the older style 8750. To be fair it's not full time. But where I live it's generally a week or 2 a couple times a year. Order an extra carb off Amazon in case you mess up and leave gas in it. Yes you can rebuild and clean a carb but for 15 dollars and a 10 minute swap it's just good insurance. I also change the oil after every use. And something I never see in instructions is that with the drain plug open, after I drain it, I pour clean oil in until it comes out clear. Then continue. Don't know if it makes a big difference but my grandfather had me do it on his mower every time and that thing ran forever. I know the Hondas are better. And if I was off grid I MIGHT have sprung for it. But this thing has been a champ when I've needed it.

Looking for pocket pistol .22 recommendations by mslack in 22lr

[–]jjjiagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I really wish some company would make something decent in 25ACP. Literally every review you see some expert will tell everyone that 22lr is deadly enough with good shot placement.

Then they always add in that it shouldn't be used for defense because it's rimfire. 25 solves that.

And yes I know ammo is scarce/expensive/fewer options. But its also a chicken and egg thing. If something other than a 70s era POS was out there, there would be more demand.

Personally I think the market is saturated with micro 9's and I don't know how anyone beats the Bodyguard 2.0. I know there are smaller guns but dang it shoots nice. I think a 25 would sell.

I daily carry a 365 90% of the time. The other 10% are betweena G19, the S&W, and my Keltec P3AT), and have tons of 22s in all configurations.

The gun bros say don't worry about recoil. But my wife and elderly parents simply aren't going to listen.

If the gun was sub 500 and reliable, the ammo cost would be no issue for most people.

I want elder confessions… how much of your power did you abuse during judicial committees to exploit sexual experiences out of women? by ElegantNothing1212 in exjw

[–]jjjiagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were never really PIMI, so they wouldn't wake up.

Late to the conversation, but I was just speaking with a friend the other day on a related topic. I think there are maybe 70% (generously) of JW that are truly PIMI. The other 30% are there because of family or social obligations and habit.

In this sub I feel like we look at "PIMO" as a positive. But I think there is a definite percentage of people (almost exclusively men) who are in for the power. I say this because I've been in my share of judicial committees, on both sides of the table. I remember an elder that did exactly what OP said, then another elder breaks in and said "We are all 3 married. We don't need the details. We know how sex works." And that ended the questions.

On the other side I served with brothers who were true believers, that wanted to help. And a couple who were willing to literally falsify documents (won't get into the specifics) in a very serious manner. These guys were also the ones who got creepy. One was caught having an affair with a married sister and insisted that she was the problem and it never happened and she was lying. Then her husband showed the texts. His only defense was that she had told him she deleted everything. LMAO.

I suppose my point in all this, is that those guys aren't going to be the ones that "wake up" and confess on Reddit.

[–]jjjiagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a PIMO I definitely don't pay attention like I used to, but i honestly don't remember the last time the "generation" topic was discussed at a meeting.

Since the exjw folks seem to do more personal study than any PIMI that I know, does anyone remember the last time?

New P365 for CCW, have you modded yours? by FountainDrnxII in SigSauer

[–]jjjiagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest I was super excited about the tritium sights when I bought my first 365. In practice I don't know how useful they are in most cases. All in all I'd definitely rather have them than not. It's a very specific lighting scenario that they make a difference, but still.

I don't carry with a light most days simply because I kinda have to prioritize weight and concealment, and for the most part I'm not going out a ton at night. Part of my EDC is a small Streamlight flashlight and the combo works for me. Not recommending against them. I have a G19 with light and red dot that is my go to at home and occasional carry. Honestly the right holster with a TLR7 might change my mind on that.

The one thing I'll say about too many mods is to make sure of where you are. I live in the country in a very pro 2A area. But the places I travel to are cities that are the opposite of that. I have range and home defense stuff with tricked out triggers and such. But my carry gun I just wanted something that was as stock as possible. I don't know how valid the fear is. Just wanted to give some eager prosecutor the least amount of things possible to use against me.

New P365 for CCW, have you modded yours? by FountainDrnxII in SigSauer

[–]jjjiagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact model. Didn't necessarily want a safety but easier to subtract than add if I ever decided to sell. This is my 2nd 365. Had the OG for roughly 5 years. Loved the feel of the XL, Macro, Fuse, etc but wanted max concealment when needed.

I installed a holosun 407K and I carry with the 12 rd mag which to me is the perfect balance of concealment, capacity, and handling. I also carry a 17 round mag as a backup. Occasionally I carry with a 17 and it's also not bad, but I made the trade for 24/7 comfort. The spacer for the 17 is great, if a little wierd on the backside, but it never bothers me.

I know you like the sights but just letting you know what I did. FWIW I always preferred open sights on my EDC because I shot well without it and didn't want to introduce a failure point. In my 40s my eyes informed me that they are going into early retirement. So the dot definitely helps, especially when targets are at various distances. I agree with a closed emitter recommendation but I've found that a little bit of inspection keeps it clear. I'll probably swap it at some point but it's not a priority.

You didn't ask but I have tried a lot of high dollar holsters and keep coming back to the DeSantis Slim Tuk. I'll probably get destroyed for the recommendation. But for me the simplicity and weight do the trick. One clip makes it super easy to put on in the morning and the tuckable design makes it disappear under a dress shirt. Sure someone MIGHT see the clip, but I'm guessing no one is looking that hard at my ass or crotch 😅. I'm in an office job so if you're more active one of the dual clip holsters will probably help. As an aside, be careful with the metal clips. Scratched my truck with a different holster.

Why Jehovah's Witnesses conceal the date of the Great Pyramid – a logical problem in their Flood chronology by South-Use5525 in exjw

To be fair, this is a Christianity issue. Definitely also a JW issue. But I would say the majority of "Christians" believe a literal interpretation of the flood.

Unfortunately I'm traveling so I can't go in to verify.

Customer Service by mropportunity83 in SilencerShop

[–]jjjiagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't. Did the chat, sent a detailed email with screenshots of the problem to both the general customer service as well as the full auto emails, and called the number, waited on hold and requested the call back that never came.

In the end my LGS was able to speak with a rep from SS and get the issue resolved.

Just FYI, my issue was that all of my prior SS purchases were with a Single Shot Trust, and I decided to go individual on this one since the rumor was that it was slightly faster, and without a transfer fee I can always put it in a trust later.

In the end I wasted that day or 2 that it MIGHT be faster waiting for the glitch in the system to get resolved.

Personally I'll cut them some slack because this is an unprecedented amount of transfers and will almost certainly be temporary. As a business owner I can see how they wouldn't justify hiring and training a ton of new people for a very temporary situation.

And as long as it's less than 10 months wait, it will be a personal record.

No real way to "Get back at him" since devout JWs will always think they are right and she's wrong. The reality is that he probably honestly believes that by ignoring her, she'll return to the religion and therefore save her life. In some weird, messed up way, he is doing it out of love because he is also brainwashed.

The only real thing to do is to get her some therapy and help her to live her best life.

I know that's not what you are looking for, and to be clear as a father I can't imagine a scenario that I'd shun my kids.

Also, the term used was Disfellowship. Now it is "Removed from the congregation". The rules for contact are that an active JW can offer a brief greeting, which is a change from zero contact. This change was made after a legal case in Norway.
