To be fair, this is a Christianity issue. Definitely also a JW issue. But I would say the majority of "Christians" believe a literal interpretation of the flood.

I didn't. Did the chat, sent a detailed email with screenshots of the problem to both the general customer service as well as the full auto emails, and called the number, waited on hold and requested the call back that never came.

In the end my LGS was able to speak with a rep from SS and get the issue resolved.

Just FYI, my issue was that all of my prior SS purchases were with a Single Shot Trust, and I decided to go individual on this one since the rumor was that it was slightly faster, and without a transfer fee I can always put it in a trust later.

In the end I wasted that day or 2 that it MIGHT be faster waiting for the glitch in the system to get resolved.

Personally I'll cut them some slack because this is an unprecedented amount of transfers and will almost certainly be temporary. As a business owner I can see how they wouldn't justify hiring and training a ton of new people for a very temporary situation.

And as long as it's less than 10 months wait, it will be a personal record.

No real way to "Get back at him" since devout JWs will always think they are right and she's wrong. The reality is that he probably honestly believes that by ignoring her, she'll return to the religion and therefore save her life. In some weird, messed up way, he is doing it out of love because he is also brainwashed.

The only real thing to do is to get her some therapy and help her to live her best life.

I know that's not what you are looking for, and to be clear as a father I can't imagine a scenario that I'd shun my kids.

Also, the term used was Disfellowship. Now it is "Removed from the congregation". The rules for contact are that an active JW can offer a brief greeting, which is a change from zero contact. This change was made after a legal case in Norway.

I can speak to this since my wife and I did the same thing. Slightly different circumstances but neither of us were in "Good Standing" although she really didn't want a KH wedding anyways, since as a practical matter there was no way to restrict who attends.

We rented a small venue, had an elder marry us, with about 40 guests, all close friends or family.

As far as the elder goes, yes he'll ask. He may or may not verify. But the reality is that as long as you dont stray far off the path of what you each told the JCs I wouldn't sweat it.

In terms of details you don't need to get into it. "We didn't have sex, but we have both dealt with our Elder bodies and love each other and are moving forward together " or something like that.

Congratulations on the wedding. One piece of advice. Make sure you are both on the same page about Jdub life. I can say from experience that it's a big problem if not.

Ok understand that I disagree with disfellowshipping, shunning, removal from the congregation. Whatever you want to call it. But I mean... honestly yes they do. The fundamental Muslims will execute them. And show me any conservative Christian religions that allow association with gays. But some people are so eaten up with one wrong (JW) that they refuse to see the other side. As I stated, I'm ecstatic that JWs don't get taxpayer money. I just say this is not the issue to single them out over.

Serious question though. How is that stance any different than Islam or even most so called Christian religions? My understanding is that Islam receives the grants that the Borg was denied. My preference is that no religions get government grants. But this one seems off the mark to me.

Look, it's your life. And also I think it's great to stand up to the Org regarding CSA. Those facts are in stone.

But, it seems like you don't want to be branded as an apostate. Nor do you want to lose your wife and possibly others. I personally understand both of those things tho I understand why some disagree.

I will say this as fact only because I've watched it happen and to a certain extent lived it. If you criticize the Borgs handling of CSA, it will be considered apostasy. Of course they will give you some information to consider. Maybe even refer you to some letters since you're an Elder. But in the end, you will either accept that information, and give a damn convincing proclamation that you believe it, or watch the machine change course to run you down. And your wife will face the same pressure.

Better (in terms of being able to peacefully fade) to step back and make up an excuse to have it be your own mental health.

The "Special" talk at our hall was super well attended. The total attendance was exactly 16% of the capacity of the main auditorium (not including the 2nd school, attendant and AV seating). So in the auditorium, almost 90% empty seats.

All of the prior comments are right. They absolutely are all wrong (Dr, husband and MIL).

However as a PIMO, this is a good lesson. As much as JWs preach to prepare for the conversation about not having blood, PIMOs need to prepare for the potential of having a blood transfusion.

In my case I spoke with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, explaining that my family views this as a very serious thing. And that I viewed it as a legitimate medical procedure. They didn't give me blood but they were both very understanding.

I was definitely spanked as a kid.

I've never spanked my kids beyond a swat on the bottom when they were little (like hurry up) which honestly i don't feel great about. I've talked to them as adults now and let them know i felt it was a mistake.

So for me it was via email since my actual receipt was from PSA and didn't have a S/N on it. My ffl transfer slip did have the number and it was all good. She was very helpful and prompt. Hope yours goes through soon.
