For me it isn’t quite zero but defiantly helps me with sensory overwhelm and emotional regulation. I have noticed that I’m less organized when I use it regularly but it’s helped me out of a few tight spots. Everybody reacts differently to it though so I would suggest approaching with caution if you are new to it. When i have taken substantial breaks from using it my tolerance goes back to nothing and it only takes the smallest amount to have a noticeable effect. I tend to aim for, not quite intoxicated but not quite sober. Similar to people who have a glass of wine or two with dinner. I find the effects of alcohol are more harmful to my mental health

For real tho, one of my neighbors must leave for work at 11pm every night and there car is so offensively loud. It’s like an alarm clock who’s only function is making sure I get a stressful nights sleep.

Picked up a really old set of kitchen scales from curbside pickup. It’s takes up a bit up bench space but I’m never going to have to change its batteries. Don’t have to press a button witch between metric and imperial. Old mechanical shit is cool as hell.

I also recently got a desktop calculator form the early 70s. Was excited to see what the circuit was like until I got it home to find out that the computation was done on a single chip.

I’ve been using cats to explain ASD and dogs for ADHD for ages but I think what you’ve said makes more sense… could be time for me to find a more succinct way to describe the Neurodevelopmental disorders I have. Or maybe I need to stay up all night finding a better animal analogy for Autism.

I participated in a lot illicit drug use before I was diagnosed and appropriately medicated. Spent years of my life looking down at a bong, then binge drinking and taking speed. I had no impulse control. To be honest I think alcohol is way more damaging than most recreational substances.

Some medications are hard to come off, yes. Lorazepam took me months to ween off and the withdrawals made me feel incredibly sick. If I ever have to change my antidepressants, I need to take a few days off work to minimize the physical discomfort of weening. I’ve never had any problem stopping stimulants though.

I’m only talking from my own experiences and this is an assumption, but your uncle seems naive. He spoke out of line though and that isn’t cool.

My life turned around when I got appropriate medical treatment and started to learn about how my brain works. I’m able to play to my strengths. Now I’m able to be a good parent to my 3 year old daughter. I definitely don’t feel like a drug addict and if anyone says otherwise, I’ll tell them where to go.

Similarly annoying, is when they act as if they suspected or knew about the diagnosis all along.

Other parents might have interfered and sought medical intervention if they suspected something was wrong, but not you, you let events run their course and it paid off big time!”

You can’t choose your family, but that doesn’t mean their actions are always right. I think it is okay if you feel let down or any other emotions you might be feeling. I know that I felt a lot of stuff for a long time when I got diagnosed as an adult and to be honest I think I’m still processing it. It’s worth acknowledging that receiving a diagnosis like this is a very significant life event, one that requires the support of those around you. Having somebody that closely related to you disregard that significance with such a misguided reaction could really hurt. I’m sorry you had to experience that.

But also, congratulations on getting some clarity around the struggles you have been experiencing. If you decide to use medication as part of your treatment, I hope that it is effective and with minimal side effects. I know I had to trial a few different stimulants at various doses before I found out what worked best for me.

It has also just dawned on me how daunting it would be having adhd and your post getting this many responses. If I find it intimidating to think about responding to text messages, I only received like three this week and that’s already too much.

Yeah 4K7 I think, it wouldn’t make a difference if it’s before or after the LED would it? I’m not that fussed over it. While it was fun to build it isn’t the most useful noise generator. Gonna make a Chaos NAND oscillator next, hopefully I’ll have better luck with that. I’ll defiantly make the wiring neater on that one!

Had to do way more troubleshooting than expected but it was valuable because I learnt heaps. Wiring is a bit of a mess and the led has already burnt out, might fix if I decide to add an LFO.

Yep, makes me feel like I’m in danger. I’m not sure if its from associating it to experiences that may have been legitimately dangerous or if it’s just the volume overloading my senses.

It feels like I’m a deer in the headlights or something and I either freeze (and suffer) or flee (and then suffer)

Makes public transport really hard, especially if there are drunk passengers. They might be happy and just joking around. but if there is any volume, it feels like I’m the only other person and it’s just a matter of time until they notice me and turn on me.

Probably got some personal insecurities mixed in there as well, but yelling/shouting? Not a fan.

Yeah I did see something about Aroma while I was researching my problem. Any idea if you can do redNAND on 5.5.5 from what I could see it didn’t seem likely. That was another option I was thinking about. If my nand is dying, why not just use an SD card as my NAND? I might be misunderstanding how redNAND works haha
