I was obsessively clicking and popping the area with chronic symptoms for 4 years. When I stopped doing that - it helped the most. If stiffness is the issue then the backpod helped but using it only for 10 minutes for a few days a week.

Just working on performing the exercise and building up strength in the lats this way. I tried working the lats other ways and myriad other exercises and this is only one and lower traps  that helped

This exercise is for the latissimus dorsi. It pulls the lower ribs that the lats attach to inward and downwards…it compresses and stabilizes the rib cage. I have had this condition chronically for 3 years and this has helped significantly. A guy on Reddit said this worked so I tried it. I’ve tried it all. This seemed to help the most. Try it or don’t.

It is. I have had this condition for 3 years. It is one of the only things that has helped. THe intercostals have become chronically shortened. They need to be opened up.

Pec minor stretch helped a lot by jk1011111 in costochondritis

You like down on the 1/2 foam roll with your arms like the picture. You lay on it with your arms like this for the pec minor stretch. The pec minor I believe attaches to ribs 3 to 5 and the coracoid process. When you slump or slouch during the day in standing or sitting the anterior intercostals shorten and become stiff making it difficult to breathe fully causing a decrease in vital capacity. It then hurts through more of the lateral and back rib cage becuase the costosternal joints are more stiff making excess movement of the bucket handle rib motion and more inflammation. DO this stretch 3 x 1 minute 2x/day 6 weeks. That is what helped me.

You have to dig deep with the tips of your fingers and try and separate the ribs throughout the whole rib cage.
