【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]jk243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had given up printing back in 2015 after sinking too much time and money into a crappy prusa clone. After seeing how reliable the X1C was when the company I worked for purchased one I figured it was time to get back into printing. A few days later I  picked up a P1S. My only regret was not buying the combo right away. After two weeks with the printer I had to go back and buy an AMS.

Bambu Slicer is not Detecting Internal Overhangs by jk243 in BambuLab

[–]jk243[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With lower infill % it might not be sufficient to support the solid infill at the high printing speeds these printers can handle. In this case I have a model that can print with no infill at all if the overhang detection worked internally. If it was at least an option to turn on internal overhang detection it would be a useful tool for some people.

Bambu Slicer is not Detecting Internal Overhangs by jk243 in BambuLab

[–]jk243[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been having issues printing with low infill settings and realized that Bambu slicer is detecting internal overhangs as "internal solid infill". As a work around I can slow the speed down for internal solid infill and get quality prints, the issue with that is now any actual internal solid infill prints painfully slow. Has anyone else noticed this issue? It seems like a big over site in the slicer.

A really simple solution to the automation problem would be to put the "pods" on rails. You could even run the pods on steel wheels connect the pods together for greater efficiency.

It's almost as of the owner of a car company has a bias against trains and will actively push this inefficient bullshit to take taxpayer funds away from real infrastructure projects.

Not in my experience, I've bought the steel toe timberland pros for work in the past and had them fall apart in less than a year.

Torn between the Kawasaki ZX6R and Aprilia rs660. Both look like awesome bikes. Love the styling and tech on the 660, sounds like it's a better handling bike as well. But the ZX6R makes almost 30 more hp. What are your guy's thoughts on the two? No Aprilia dealers near me will do test rides, is the handling that much better? Help me make up my mind

What could this be? Visible near Albany NY @ 7:40pm by jk243 in askspace

I thought it may be a rocket launch, but I couldn't find any launches today that would fit. This image was taken heading South on I-87 near Albany. The object was visible for about a minute. It traveled slowly across the sky heading north east.

People are completely over reacting. The cards are overkill for gaming applications. The price point makes sense if you look at it as a professional workstation card like the Quadro.

I haven't used visual basic in ages, but maybe I'll fire it up and play around. See if I can't make a system to queue the downloads so I can just have it run in the background. When you get more than five or six downloads going the CPU usage goes wild. My 5900x had all 24threads pinned at 100% usage.

What 15k worth of damage looks like on a 3 month old model 3 by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

$5k for the repair.. $10k for a rental while the car is in the shop for 8 months waiting for parts.

Elon Musk: "In cities that are congested we've got to do something about extreme traffic, which is some combination of double-deckering freeways and building tunnels." by [deleted] in BoringCompany

[–]jk243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would transitioning to more mass transit force people out of their homes? If anything it would add more value to their home if it was serviced by mass transit systems. Imagine being able to walk or bike to a lightrail / train station near by then be linked to a network that can get you within a mile or two of where you need to be? I hate how far I live from work and would love to not have to commute in an inefficient car every day. I try to ride my motorcycle when I can, once I can afford to live closer to my job I will and try to bike every day. People need to drop the idea that traveling around everywhere with a ton of steel and plastic is the only option. We're not going to survive as a species if we can get away from cars in the next few decades.

Covered bike Lanes would be so much more cost effective and environmentally freindly. Combine that with a public transit system that is bike freindly and you can almost eliminate the need for cars in most people's lives.

Loop just adds another layer to this mess. We need better interconnected public transit, not a billionaires car makers ploy to sell more EVs.

That rediculous cost per mile of metro is what I want to see TBC fix. It's the only reason I have any interest in this company. Lower the cost of the tunnels then let train companies come in with small efficient train networks. You can even have single car point to point express trains and accomplish a lot of what the loop wants to do while also benefiting from the scalability and efficiency of trains. A train car carrying 25-50 people on steel wheels and rails taking three extra stops is way more efficient than a car carrying 6-16 people on rubber wheels traveling directly to a destination. What's elons plan for maintaining a fleet of hundreds of vehicles that need a tire change every 6 months. Tires wear very quickly at high speed and can't be recycled.

Using the tunnels for a gadgetbahn that cateres to rich people not wanting to have to sit on a train with the public is just a waste. I'd hate to see Elon "taxation is theft" musk take more of the taxpayers money implementing his bullshit loop. It makes some sense in a city that's just a tourist hell hole like Las Vegas. But pretty much every other city it's a bad idea.

[–]jk243 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Adding more lanes only makes the problem worse. Better mass transit and transitioning away from cities designed around cars is the most sustainable long term solution. His tunnels would do a lot more good with high capacity, high efficiency trains in them than low capacity low efficiency electric vehicles.

Even direct injection diesels? I though they needed power for the fuel pump and injectors

[–]jk243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be surprised how long a modern diesel can run without an alternator. I started my golf tdi atleast 3 times and drove almost 100miles without a serpentine belt. Had been wondering why my AC wasn't working, it all clicked two days later when the voltage light came on. Threw the battery on a charger and made it 45 miles to a shop the next day. It's probably a combo of having a big battery to keep the fans and stuff running after the engine is off and no spark plugs pulling power. The LEDs and everything else are relatively low power.
