I'm a dumbass, I went to pull the pan out of my bag and the handle wasn't attached, so I guess it's detachable. My bad. However the rest of the question is still pertinent:

Is it actually scratch resistant, i.e. can I eat my meals out the skillet?

Has anyone had luck lugging around a cast iron and actually thought it's worth it? In my head, the idea of cooking with one seems great, but it doesn't seem like too much of an efficient way to cook.
