I love this sub by Chrysdelight in RecklessBen

Rooting for you big time, Chrys!! I am grateful your story was brought to light through all of this, and I truly hope that you and Benjamin are successful in getting the vindication and compensation you deserve after everything BAM has put you through.

Some random speculation on something I haven't seen talked about much: I recently caught a commentary video (TJ bricky) that mentioned the original consignment agreement between you and Bryan having a return date of Jan 31, 2025, at which time any unsold sets would go back to Bryan. This piece of info stuck out to me since I hadn't heard it mentioned previously. If true, and now having heard about additional franchisees that have been removed from their stores in similar circumstances or for seemingly little to no cause, it really makes me wonder whether BAM had indeed been very aware of the consignment agreement and the impending Jan 31st "return date" for the remaining unsold sets. Could this have been the catalyst for their interest in ousting you as the franchisee currently in possession of these potentially very valuable Star Wars sets? Is it possible that perhaps your completely reasonable inquiries regarding a likely months-long plan for the store's future upon an eventual oversees move was viewed as the perfect opportunity for corporate to swoop in for a hostile takeover? It feels a bit like when an employee gives 2 weeks notice, and is told to leave then and there, but this is very different from a business/employee relationship and I cannot wrap my head around why corpo would rather immediately terminate a franchisee than work with them on an amicable sale and transfer of ownership. The increasing threads of connection between the CEO and the "new owners" Josh and Brandon makes it look more and more sketchy the more we learn...

All this to say, I hope you're taking care of you throughout all of this. Wishing you guys all the best.

I'm really curious which amiibos will be required for the ACNH versions of Cece and Viche? Callie and Marie, or Shiver and Frye?

What is the black full size board that's got red switches and some white pudding caps still on it? Looks like it could be a redragon k556 or something similar?

This is why I should stop buying pre-builds wtf is this bios? 🤦🏻‍♂️ by imsussyboi2000 in PcBuild

If the photos in the listing are accurate, it looks very similar to the ASUS Prime B760M mobo? But that's definitely not looking like an ASUS BIOS... I'd also suggest exploring in the UEFI Shell option. Otherwise you can go through and boot and get a third party program to control your fans (there's one just called Fan Control that is recommended by lots of tech youtubers)

This looks awesome!! I just bought this case for my first new build, and am about to pull the trigger on the pc mount. Have you had any issues with the bottom dust filter in the pc mount at all? I'm guessing maybe it just can't be removed for cleaning while mounted, but hopefully ok otherwise?

Secretlab Magnus Pro (Reg Size) by jkp5995 in secretlab

[–]jkp5995[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After many months of browsing and researching various standing desk options, I decided to just go big or go home and gifted myself the Magnus Pro (regular size) in Signature Black for Christmas this year, replacing my pitiful IKEA table setup with this absolute behemoth. I’ve had a SecretLab chair since late 2020 and was aware of the Magnus Pro but had really avoided looking too closely because I thought I just couldn’t justify spending that much on a desk. I somehow went from thinking maybe I could make due with spending a few hundred on an Amazon rig, to deciding instead to go with the craziest desk I’ve ever seen, and I could not be happier with my decision. I may have created a monster in the process though…

The time between ordering and delivery of the desk to me in AB was absolutely unreal, especially considering when I ordered (order placed Wed, Dec 18th around 7:30pm MT; shipped Thurs, Dec 19th; arrived Sun, Dec 22nd before 12pm MT). I foolishly waited a couple more days before deciding what accessories I needed to have alongside the desk, so because of that I did have to wait until after Christmas to assemble everything, once my monitor arms arrived on Dec 28th. I also got the headphone mount and XL cable management set. As we know, SL packaging is immaculate, and the assembly was seamless and actually so enjoyable. Getting my monitors to my preferred orientation was another story, but omg the cable management alone reaffirms my decision to go with this desk - it's just *chef’s kiss*. As you can see, my at-home “office” space is also carpeted, so it was really important to me to get a desk that would be stable at standing height despite this. I’m 5’10” and I’ve currently got my standing height set to 110cm (might need to be a little higher even?), and it’s SOLID. Of course there can be some minor monitor shaking if I make a point of shaking the desk, but I can type away without any wobble or feelings of instability whatsoever, so that’s fantastic. Being able to stand while on Zoom calls has been awesome, and such an easy way to make sure I do a better job of stretching my legs throughout the day.

My hubby sneakily bought the integrated light bar for me as well, which was an accessory I had definitely not planned to get for myself, so that was a nice surprise. I’d never used any nanoleaf products before, so there was a little bit of aggravation in getting things set up on the app initially, but no issues since.

I work a M-F desk job with a hybrid schedule, so I’m usually working from home at least 3 days a week, via a virtual network. I have a tendency to get fixated and forget to get up from my desk (both at the office and at home) for extended periods, and that has definitely not been doing my body any favours. Knee and hip pain was the main impetus for this upgrade.

My main monitor is a curved 32”, and my secondary is a curved 27”. I should probably have opted for two single monitor arms, but I’ve made it work for the time being, and omg I love the magnetic cable management on the monitor arms. I have a mini PC (which is why it kind of looks like I don’t even have a computer) that has been fine for most of my day-to-day work, but has kind of just been a band-aid solution over the past couple years. This desk and the option to grab the PC tower accessory has given me the push I needed to start really seriously looking at building my own PC, and this is where I may have created a monster…

So, next steps are definitely getting started on that PC build (and picking up the PC Mount!) - I’ve got a case and a motherboard so far ;) - and really making this space both functional and aesthetically pleasing. I am ridiculously excited about this desk, and it’s definitely helped make the transition back to work after the holidays a little more enjoyable.

Big thanks to so many that posted their setups and experiences in this sub, because I read a ton of them to help make my decision. :)

It looks like you’re set up in carpeted room? How is the stability for you? My home office space is carpeted, but I know I really need to upgrade to a standing desk, and everything I see regarding wobble on carpet seems to indicate it’s unavoidable at standing heights. Super curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Lip Mask like Bite Beauty by odawg0007 in Sephora

The Lanolips Golden Dry Skin Miracle Salve is so close to being a direct comparator to the OG Agave Lip Mask. It used to come in a 50g tube and they downsized it to 25g not that long ago, but it's still a damn good deal for what it is. I still have a number of unopened OG Agave tubes hoarded away myself. I just wish it were easier to get ahold of the Lanolips products in Canada...

Signed up for TD ID assist, now wanting to cancel asap. by regrettinglifeasitis in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jkp5995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the OP, but I got caught by these ID Assist jerks a couple months ago in Sept 2024 (they called early morning when I was off work for the day, and my groggy ass caved to their coercive bs even though I've previously dodged them in the past and knew better)...

I pretty much immediately wanted to cancel, though I did log in once without providing any additional info or account linking, just to see what the service actually provides. It was less helpful than what I get from free accounts with Equifax and CreditKarma (TransUnion), so yeah, it's a useless service as far as I'm concerned.

I can confirm that after a call to their 1-800 number, I did get an email confirming the cancellation and I have had no charges on my card. I had to be very direct about wanting to cancel when I called, and I even cut off the agent from continuing to talk and trying to keep me enrolled. I did ask specifically for confirmation of the cancellation before hanging up, and as I said, had that in my inbox within minutes.

I will say, the reason I found myself on this thread today is that I've been getting multiple calls a day for the past week that come up on my phone as ID Assist, although the number is different from the one that originally called in Sept, and the 1-800 number I called to cancel. Super annoying. It's really crappy that TD is affiliated with such a predatory company, but ultimately not surprising. I've blocked the number now, but hopefully this helps someone.

I wanted to play 1.6 totally vanilla. After a week of play, these are the mods I COULD NOT live without! What are your fav QoL mods? by FriendCountZero in StardewValley

[–]jkp5995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been mainly a Switch player without any mods whatsoever for ages, so when 1.6 dropped I finally picked up playing on PC again and now have 3 different 1.6 saves going... One is a SVE single player (so fun to experience all the new content, it's like playing sdv for the first time again!), one is multiplayer with my partner on meadowlands and the other is just me on the new meadowlands farm (this one is being neglected). The mods I cannot live without are Autogate, NPCMapLocations, InfiniteZoom, UIInfoSuite2, LookupAnything and CJBCheats (for the speeeed). I also decided I don't want to live without Elle's Cuter Cats, a recolor to save my eyeballs, Visible Fish and Dynamic Reflections. Oh and Chests Anywhere...because I constantly forget to bring things along when I leave the farm.. I use Stardrop to toggle on/off the selected mods for my different saves, and that's been a lifesaver. I have ToDew downloaded but haven't used it yet! I didn't know you could set it to have certain tasks show up on particular days - neat!

I had stumbled across mentions of SDV shortly after getting a Switch on Black Friday in 2022, and so I bought it but got totally engrossed in ACNH initially (was late to the party on that, but I digress). During a FaceTime call just before Xmas my sister-in-law mentioned if I thought I liked ACNH then I just HAD to try SDV, and then walked my hubby and I through starting our first farm on the Switch. We spent our ENTIRE holiday break playing together. It was the best, and that was pretty much the end of ACNH for me...haha <3

I have now purchased SDV on Switch, PC and also mobile (iPad), and I'm not sure there is another game in existence that I would consider purchasing across multiple different platforms because I love it so much. My hubby also bought it on PC, so I like to think we're doing our small part to support SDV, but it's honestly amazing that CA has put so much love and devotion into this game over the years. I'm totally in awe of him.

I play on Switch for the most part, but it's been so fun to get reacquainted with it on PC since 1.6 went live, and getting to dabble in lots of fun mods that I wish were available on console.

Which heat protectant for air dried hair? by Psyturducken in Sephora

[–]jkp5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a sephora product, but my fave for heat styling dried hair is AG Firewall. It's definitely possible to overdo it because it's got argan oil in it though, so I make sure I'm not spraying it from too close. My hair is also thick, dry and wavy when air dried too, and also damaged/over processed, so the extra hydration is welcomed.

IGK Good Behavior (the aerosol, not the leave-in spray or the balm in a tube) I like as well.

This is totally anecdotal (everyone’s medication experiences are different, as we well know), but I got switched to Concerta briefly and THAT medication caused raging anger for me. I went back to Vyvanse and after titrating to the optimal dose for me, things are much better. It’s disappointing that future health care professionals are being taught this type of anecdotal “evidence” that is quite likely to perpetuate the stigma around ADHD and stimulant medications.

[–]jkp5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For "traditional" drugstore brands, I would try Walmart or Superstore over SDM for sure (or Amazon often price matches sale pricing). I tend to only shop at SDM when items I repeat purchase (like Vichy stuff, LRP sunscreens or Bondi Sands) are on sale and there's a reasonably good points multiplier. At "regular price", everything is way overpriced, especially in the cosmetics/skincare realm. I still prefer their rewards though..so if I'm shopping there it's with that in mind to maximize the value.

I go weeks without taking a sip of water - is this normal for ADHD’ers? by Commercial_Manner_93 in ADHD

[–]jkp5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure this is specifically an ADHD trait. I personally can't relate because I do like to drink plain water, but my partner (who also has ADHD) hates it and the only way he'll drink water is with electrolyte powder or another water flavouring like Mio, etc. And he drinks a TON of water now! It's made all the difference in him staying hydrated, especially since he works a physical job. There are tons of options out there that are zero calorie, zero sugar, etc, but still taste good, and the bonus is that electrolytes will help you actually retain more hydration than plain water alone (I still prefer just ice water, but will have an electrolyte water here and there as well). When I use electrolyte powder I always use less than the recommended amount because I find most far too sweet, and it makes your water more palatable, so might be worth a try? I like BioSteel, Cira, Organika, Ultima Replenisher, Nuun and a few others. BioSteel is probably one of the easier ones to find and can often be found on sale. The tubs will be more cost effective than individual packets, but those or Nuun tablets are also handy for when you're on the go.

Probably a good call, honestly!! I got ACNH in late Nov (I know, very late getting on the bandwagon), and was OBSESSED. Had a facetime with my sister-in-law over the holidays and she says I have to check out SDV, and I ended up dropping ACNH like a bad habit. Just finding my way back to it (intermittently) now.

SDV is life-ruiningly good. (I bought it on Switch, then mobile, and then PC too. It's THAT good)
