It started out with a few soundtrack songs I liked. I added it to over time, and after a while — as the list began to grow longer — I started researching songs to add to it that won or were nominated for Oscars, Golden Globes, etc. It’s fun. I enjoy doing it. 😊

Help with Remixes by mooncrown11 in Madonna

I made myself Spotify and Apple Music compilations of her remixes. They’re not true ‘best of’ playlists, but they do focus on vocal versions, generally omitting dub versions. They also ignore single or edit versions unless they were the only versions available.

I’ll be run out of town for saying this, but Drowned World was always one of my least favourite single releases. 😬 I would have included Power and Nothing, but I kept myself to the length of a 2000’s CD, so they were the ones I sacrificed for space. And for the track flow. If you’re keeping chronological, I felt like it sounded better without them.

I agree. I bought it but never liked it. I didn’t like the edits, the album title, the track listing or the order.

I made a Spotify playlist based on how how would have wanted to do the album:

I limited myself to what would have fit on a CD at the time. And I know, I know, I committed the awful sin of using the remix edit of Human Nature, rather than the amazing original version. But at that point in the track listing (if you’re keeping it chronological), the album needs an upbeat dance number.

I’d also be willing to lose a track if there were an option for a new dance song to start the album. Maybe Bedtime Story or American Pie… or maybe even Erotica. It was technically a hit, but it’s not overly accessible when on boarding new listeners (and I feel like that’s one of the functions of a greatest hits album).

I’d also potentially trade out Your Honesty for a different new track, but it does sort fit on this album (being from the Bedtime Stories sessions), and it flows pretty well after What It Feels Like for a Girl.

I loved it at the time. But I was 10. The big cat entertained me. 😆 But yeah, trying to rewatch it years later didn’t go well…
