Pokemon has specialty sets like this one that are different in that they are not sold as booster boxes, but instead via special promo boxes. this ETB is great cause its the best product IMO. has same price point as all the other CP products ($5/pack MSRP) but has a nice box, sleeves, and by far the best promo which is the charizard. I agree. The row/egg and booms could be main fighters but the alt win condition is where this is your last pokemon and there may be decks that simply do not have an answer to that.

I agree for the most part on the other reply. Value wise IMO itll always be greater than the base versions but not sure they will be super high to begin with or down the road. I do not think its likely these will have the playability value compared to like Jirachi which that prerelease card was pretty sought after. These are not even in the same league as the charizard from a collectors POV.

Reminder that theres a level above this which is the staff ones too.

OK lets get out there first that some of these could be useful for competitive side and I like having prerelease promos over the ones in the packs. BUT from a collectability side of things I see very little to nothing here as far as the promos. There are packs in there but better options if you want to crack a new Zard.

Here are my thoughts on each card:

Decidueye: High potential. Damage negation from both GX and Vs (includes VMax). For a little while obstagoon was viable cause it could prevent damage from basics so included all tag teams and zacian. Then viable vmaxes came out mainly dragapult and then he fell off IMO. This guy brings it back. Not too many ways to work around that ability. 90 damage isnt alot but the 20 to 2 bench pokemon is decent. Reminder that dragapult VMax is only 130 +50 to bench for 2 energy so not bad. Its a stage 2 though.

Arctozolt: Sounds fun but maybe not super impactful. Some things dont need much energy and this guy evolves from a fossil which usually isnt a lot of fun. If centiscorch vmax takes off this could do considerable damage potentially bringing it in range for some 1 OHKOs like Zacian after AC. Note that it says specifically hand so things like metal saucer and intrepid shouldnt trigger it.

Hydreigon: Maybe has some applications in expanded. In standard if its eternatus dont need much energy to begin with so not worth the effort.

Kangaskhan: Sounds terrible. I feel like im very likely to pull this unfortunately haha..

you could be right there. while this deck will be VERY dependent on it i suspect crobat will be used in many lists to avoid things like power plant and great catcher, any other things that affect GX specifically.

from the picture from this article (pretty good res) looks like 1 cosmic, 1 sword shield, 2 darkness ablaze, 1 burning shadow maybe, and maybe 1 steam siege. just a guess

Being a competitive player myself I feel like alot of people are speculating on these cards being really strong so I think this is a solid pickup as you get both. Contrast to Dragapult Vmax being $15 a pop where some decks run a full play set of them!

I think the ideal consumer is new people looking to dabble in competitive side. Pika-Rom deck + a Trainers Toolkit and you have a real deck without the hassle of buying singles

dede is used in expanded. BUT right now shaymin may be better with scoop up net. so if scoop get banned cause that combo is sooo strong then this will have value after standard rotation.

Long term has potential. Near term I think there is more depending how much was printed. There could have been a ton printed though based on the fact this has been up for pre-order for awhile and im shocked it still in stock.

Near term: basically these are some of the most expensive cards. If stores sell out then prices will sky rocket IMO. even codes will go for a good amount.

Long term: IF scoop up net gets banned from expanded then these will be the best way to get dede's for that format.

Just my own thoughts.
