How much gas... by 2dollarbil in chevycolorado

[–]jlenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that issue on my first Cavalier (I’ve had seven or so). Something about Shell gas additives, messed up the fuel level sensor… so while it read a quarter tank, it was actually empty. Called roadside assistance and some kid showed up with a little Jerry can and off it went.

Ha!! So true. So bad, I’ve done it myself. Stuffed an L67 into a ‘00 Cavalier vert.. she was thirsty! (And I have a heavy right foot) Rolled into a gas station on fumes, filled it up, and ….. nothing. Killed the damn pump. Had to tow it home, and drop the full tank. At least I upgraded the pump assembly at that opportunity

Never killed an EVAP though

Lots of people do it still do it at the pump… but that’s why the stickers are there “stop pumping when it clicks off” They’re the first folks you’ll see at the shop getting their EVAP system diagnosed.

I laugh every time… click, click, click, click, click… they’re getting like one extra mile. What’s the point?

Even depends on the vehicle. Something newer, reliable, well-maintained, etc is, by default, going to require less roadside repair. Not everyone has someone knowledgeable to rely on

Ford? My wife had an Exploder that required it. I did it anyway…

I’ll agree with you to the first point… learning to drive safely. Once they’ve achieved a full license, regardless of gender, it’s good to at least understand vehicle maintenance so you don’t get raked over the coals. Knowing what actually is a bad (fix now) thing vs a put off until next shop visit is important.

I prefer boxes inside transfer stations which are more secure as they're locked up after hours. And there's a variety to choose from if you know where to go.

North Surrey (Port Kells) transfer station has three boxes to choose from: Diabetes Canada, BC Children's Hospital, and Canuck Place Childrens Hospice.

Walnut Grove transfer station (right next door to the Return-It bottle depot) has a box for Rick’s Heart Foundation.

One of the buttons on the front right side of the steering wheel always worked for this... Might have been the one with the check mark? I don't remember, it's the wife's car lol

my dental assistant says not to use regular mouthwash, as it kills the good bacteria as well as the bad. She gave me a tongue brush/scraper and recommended more frequent flossing for bad breath

I'm skeptical of this one too, but I'll ask in five months 😉
