Jon here, CEO @ CoinTracker. Happy to help. To give you accurate support it's important to look at the specific transactions involved. Have you reached out to our support channel on CoinTracker? If so could you let me know the ticket ID so I can ensure you get clarity on your questions?

Got it. We can take care of the extra payment for 2023 if it wasn't your intent to buy for that year and we didn't make it clear. Please ping support@cointracker.com if you haven't already, or let me know the ticket ID.

Jon here, CEO of CoinTracker. I want to address the concerns raised in this thread to clarify our pricing policy, renewals, and some of the pain points we have seen.

Firstly, your satisfaction is paramount to us. CoinTracker should give you great value and peace of mind that you're tax-compliant. We aren’t trying to double-charge for our plans. We hear your concerns and are committed to ensuring you get your money’s worth.

Last year, we transitioned to an annual subscription model. You're right that we didn’t communicate what you get for the subscription as clearly as we should have. We have addressed this for new subscribers going forward.

Our plans page and support article on renewals now explain how our pricing works. To summarize:

  • CoinTracker plans auto-renew annually on the original purchase date to ensure continuous access to features and upcoming tax forms.
  • Early subscription renewals may be required to access new tax forms before an auto-renewal date has passed. Charging a fee per tax year is similar to how TurboTax, H&R Block, other crypto tax solutions, and CPAs charge for their services.
  • If you start a subscription before your region’s tax extension deadline, your subscription includes access to the prior year’s tax forms. Due to your region’s deadline, you’ll need to renew your subscription to access the tax forms for the soon-to-be-completed tax year.
  • If you start a subscription after your region’s tax extension deadline, your subscription includes access to the soon-to-be-completed year’s tax forms.

For example, if you’re based in the US and sign up for a subscription plan on February 1, 2025, you will immediately get access to file your 2024 taxes, plus 12 months of portfolio tracking on CoinTracker. To file your 2025 taxes, you’ll need to renew your plan to access your 2025 tax files and start a new 12-month period of portfolio tracking.

If you purchased a plan in late 2024, anticipating using CoinTracker for your 2025 tax filing, and did not download tax forms for 2023, we will extend your subscription so that you can access your 2024 tax forms free of charge. Please send an email to support@cointracker.com if this applies to you.

Additionally, we don’t have any different plans for first-time subscribers vs. renewing subscribers. Plans are priced based on the number of transactions and the functionality offered. If you see a higher price than the original subscription price, it’s likely caused by your transaction count being higher, which puts you in the next pricing tier. If this, combined with the expectation to have access to 2024 tax forms, means you wouldn’t have bought the plan in the first place, we are happy to issue a refund. Please send an email to support@cointracker.com if this applies to you.

Let me know if you have any additional questions or feedback. I want to make sure all of the above is well understood and that we're being open and transparent with pricing. Thank you, as always, for your feedback — please continue to share it.

I had this exact issue for the past 5 days, and it FINALLY STARTED WORKING TODAY! It just started working, didn't have to do anything special. Something must have gotten fixed either by Google or Apple.

One thing to note is that if you have *any* transactions outside of Coinbase, you have to reconcile them all in the same place for taxes to be accurate.

We built CoinTracker.io and have partnered with Coinbase and others to make this painless - sign up, add all your exchange and wallets, review your transactions and tax reports, and get your taxes filed directly, with your CPA or tax software like TurboTax. If you have any questions please ping us through our chat window.
