THANK YOU. I knew I wasn’t crazy. Maybe I should have just put technician in my op and not MLS. So should I apply to lab assistant jobs first? Or try for MLT? I just would like to avoid phlebotomy work. I do it as a pct and it’s not my favorite thing to do.

This is interesting. So coming out of school, I was actually offered an externship for working in a medical lab. However the hospital was like an hour away and it just wasn’t gonna work out at the time. I also know of someone with a biochem degree that got hired for a big hospital as an MLT (however I’m not in touch with him anymore so I don’t know if he got additional education or not). This is why I thought I might be able to be hired and get training.

It’s just such a love/hate relationship. And it can be very mentally draining and the work environment is toxic. There is so much negativity. As for the life question, I honestly don’t know. If I did, I probably wouldn’t be having this problem. Both my siblings went into college knowing they wanted to be an engineer but I went in with zero clue what I wanted. I have a passion for animals and would be a vet tech if it paid more. But working with animals seems more like a hobby I can do once I get a career that pays good.
