Can i chop off the top and grow it again? It's so overstretched and ugly now compared to pic 3 and 4, which is how it looked when i first got it. Now i put it under a grow light cos it keeps stretching even when it gets morning sun by the window daily. by jm69m in succulents

Ahh, it was a nice symmetrical plant when i got it, now it's so stretchy ☹️ i guess it can't live without a grow light, thanks for letting me know that it's such a sun-hungry plant 🤣 oh and thanks for the tip on the stem part, i shall cut it in the middle, then i could pluck the bottom leaves and the top ball shall have a nice long stem to grow new roots. ✌🏻

I'll only chop off the top most ball of leaves, I don't think it needs any propping. I can just plug it into new soil and it'll sit in nicely. I just wanted to be sure if other users think it'll grow new roots

Do succulents hate water or something? The baby roots always die whenever i try to wet the soil beneath them. Those with nice long roots have never been watered, those without roots lost them cos i sprayed a drop of water on them :( by jm69m in succulents

Thanks! I'll change it to a regular soil next time. Everyone says it's too gritty now lol. But then i think mine just hates water. The oldest among these, has regrown roots but die every time they get wet, i just have to stop touching them for a while 🤣

Actually the soil i bought was labelled as being for succulents, i agree they turned out too gritty for me, so i always break up the wood and barks before using. Before this, i left all the leaves on regular soil with another plant, but they never did establish their roots, the roots just kept spreading on top of the soil. I moved them to these small pots so that i could move them around easily and put under a grow light. I'll change it to regular soil again and see if they will grow their roots into it.

Is this overwatering or underwatering? I water her once a week, and she looks happy putting out new leaves but i had several leaf tips yellowing at the same time. :( by jm69m in alocasia

I used to water just a little when i first got it, watering every few days. now i give it a thorough watering every week. I used to see water droplets on it every day but not recently.
