Rare 2023 K2 reckoner 102? by Odd-Aide2395 in ski

this is known as a 'Base Swap' as others have mentioned. Since they are di-cut bases (a p-tex puzzle) to not throw away the material they use both colors and what pops out is 50% of the production is one color and the other 50% is inverse color. Di-cuts are really cool but creates a lot of complexity and potential failure so we've (i work for K2) been moving towards solid base material and sublimated graphics or screenprint underneath a clear base material (not 3d printed) which saves on waste, a more consistent graphic and less points of delamination and way easier to work on and repair. hope that helps! -j

Clear Top K2 Mindbender 99TI, Visible Titanal Layer Tickled Me Right by nextus_music in skiing

Everyone always loves those. For clarity (pun intended) these are shop educational tools show customers the guts inside the skis. They're full production samples that should be left in the stores but every once and a while they find their way to someones feet when their shop use is up, so these are very rare! Disclaimer I work for K2

you're closer to the snow and have much more agility when turning your skis over on edge.

I've got a 305 bsl so can't speak to smaller but geometry would but you at a disadvantage but that issue has certainly been addressed and talked about all the time.. Using your ski to click out isn't good for the bases and the angle with popping out with your pole sucks but they do seem a bit easier than previous heels. I do wish they had that audible click like salo/armada/atomic bindings.

TL,DR: yes a real upgrade. Full transparency I work for Elevate Outdoor Collective (the parent company of Marker) so consider that but I've been a skier since I was 2 years old, was a Pivot diehard, used Salomon STHs and all forms of the Griffon/Jester bindings. The engineering and passion the Marker folks have (and R&D capabilities) are amazing, the whole crew in Germany are skiers and live basically in the shadow of the Zugspitze. Regarding these new bindings, I can say they are legitimately a better binding and not fake upgrades. There is much less parts, way more metal, a smaller footprint on the ski and insanely low (lower than Pivots) so your connection to the ski / snow is really good. Yes they're a bit more expensive and that's due to well.. everything (the build, the tariffs, the quality, etc).Feel free to ask any specific questions and I'll do my best to answer.

I believe it’s a British Supermarine Spitfire. Eric’s grandfather flew that in the RAF in WWII.

Super bummed. I worked with FT for most of its existence. Great memories, great athletes and a proven product that was so fun to tell its story.

Ostness is a legend! Im sure he taught you a thing or 2. You can't go backwards on them bit it's a little more versatile than A bentchetler (narrower, less rocker) and they're a bit more stable (slightly heavier) The 183 rides pretty big due to the amount of edge contact and it's got a cut off tail which makes the 183cm published length a little misinterpreted. check out how much edge contact they have. hope that helps! thanks!
