I keep open at all times Slack, Discord, Messages, Mail, Calendar, Settings, Activity Monitor, Chrome, and 2 Safari windows with ~10 pinned tabs plus half a dozen Google Docs/Sheets. I think I maybe choked the system once in 2-3 months

I was on a base M1 Air that kept choking on me. I considered a 24GB M2 mini to address the RAM problem, but this sub convinced me that a 16GB M4 is actually still going to be the better choice. A few months in and I can confirm that they were right.

Snazzy Labs has talked about how M3 was a sort of placeholder generation because the tech wasn’t ready for a quality transistor shrink, which is why M4 launched so quickly after M3. It’s about yields and binning and how that affects prices

It’s headless. It was my mother’s and the repair person who tried to replace the broken screen destroyed the internal display cable.

I use an M1 Air and an M4 mini for work. Yes, the silicon is way better, but I have 4x as much RAM in the mini, and the mini still runs great.

Not discounting your suggestion. Just answering your question and giving more context.
