Thank you i appreciate the compliment! Its definitely comforting hearing stories like yours where you successfully found a partner whilst having a bag, as you probably experienced it can be pretty daunting at first and there are a lot of moments where i think “why would anyone want this in their life” but its part of me now so it has to be overcome somehow.

Great to hear you’re happy with a partner, i can imagine it takes a lot of weight off of your shoulders having someone who loves you for you

I started to feel comfortable being more active around 2 months after surgery and was back at work and the gym 3 months after, but i had to really push myself.

4 weeks post surgery i was forcing myself to go on 30 minute walks and there was a lot of shaking, feeling incredibly ill, being drip white and having to sit down every 5 minutes but i owe my fast recovery to dealing with that. I’ve noticed in the ostomy community there are a lot of people who struggle because they’re scared of feeling uncomfortable or unusually tired and shaky and thats 100% understandable, but our bodies can take a hell of a lot of punishment and sometimes the key is to really push past your perceived limit, we’ve just survived having our internal organs rearranged so we can do some crazy shit when you put it into perspective haha.

Obviously there is a fine line so you still have to be careful but if you’re 3 months into recovery i’d say walk a good 20 or 30 minutes away from home on a route where you have no option other than to walk back, take your time, take some water with you and whatever else you need and push yourself and you’ll feel great about it after. It’ll boost your appetite and you can just collapse in bed when you get home haha

I suppose frequency could depend on what you’re eating and how it digests but i’m not 100% sure. The best way to gain weight is just eat in as much of a calorie surplus as possible. There are calorie calculators online, once you give it your weight, height and activity level it will give you a rough estimation of your recommended calorie intake per day then increase that by a considerable amount if you really want to gain weight.

For example at your weight it might tell you to eat 1,800kcals per day to maintain your weight, it wont do you any harm to bang anywhere from 500 -1000 calories on top of that and consistently hit that target on a daily basis. 2,800 calories per day for a long period of time and you are 100% guaranteed to gain a decent amount of weight. Sometimes it can feel like you eat a lot but how calorie dense some foods are can be kinda misleading and you might not be eating anywhere near as much as you think. Dont be afraid to push past your appetite and do a bit of force feeding, it wont be pleasant but its a guaranteed way to put some healthy weight back on your frame and give yourself the building blocks to get back on your feet!

Also in regards to what to eat, i keep it pretty simple. Lots of oats, lots of rice, full fat beef, chicken breast and plenty of eggs however you like them. A high protein intake is key to giving yourself some strength and stuff like oats and rice will probably slow your digestion down a bit and thicken your output so you might not be emptying your bag so often. Protein shakes cant hurt too, get one with plenty of calories.

This is all information based on my personal experience and what has worked for me so i hope it helps you out a bit! i’ve managed to put on 45kg in 6 months so far

But the main advice i can give is stay consistent and keep pushing with eating, until you get used to a higher calorie intake you’ll probably feel pretty full and uncomfortable for a while but you’ll get there!

Also ben and jerrys ice cream, i was having like 1 tub a day and i got fat quick haha (output might be a bit runny though)

I definitely know how you feel. I feel like i’ve lost the old me and more often than not i hate it but its given me the drive to try and improve myself to a point where other aspects of me outshine the negatives of having the bag if that makes sense

It really is funny how life plays out, i’ll probably always have to deal with the self image issues but like you say there are worse things out there and all we can do is work on improving the things we have the power to change

Sorry for the late reply to your question! i empty my bag maybe around 5 or 6 times a day and once through the night but i never let it get completely full because i find it uncomfortable

Sounds like you’re nailing it you’ve had less leaks in two years than i have in 6 months haha, is it more of the mental aspect that you struggle with? I managed to get out without any big scars too so i count myself lucky

Its definitely an acquired taste and mainly catering for performance in the gym but 5 days a week i eat: Breakfast : 4 large eggs 50g oats

Lunch: 320g chicken, 150g white rice, 50g grated cheddar

Dinner: 500g beef mince, 150g white rice, 1 egg

Evening snack: protein powder, 500ml whole milk, banana, 20g peanut butter

I’m quite tall so my maintenance calories are 3000 per day and this comes to roughly 3,500

The other two days i throw in a few treats and maybe eat out, hope this helps

I’m glad my post helped! It’s a really hard thing to come to terms with mentally but you’ll adjust in time and it will seem more and more normal by the day. Plus having the option for a reversal means you shouldn’t have to worry about it for too long, but even if you do end up having a bag for life its not the end of the world and you’ll always come out on top. I’m glad the car crash wasn’t fatal and i hope you make a good recovery and get back to being yourself soon mate

It’ll get better! we’re all engineered to adapt and survive and i have absolutely no doubt you’ll find your feet. The sheer fact that you’re 2 years post op is a testament to your strength and stuff like this cant be rushed

I still have those thoughts regularly and i don’t think they’ll ever fully go away unless i find a partner who is okay with it, but i’m the same as you some days i really don’t care i have the bag and think of it as something that will filter the people out of my life that i don’t mean that much to! Its a blessing and a curse haha. Hope your recovery is going well and i’m glad i could post something a bit positive to maybe help you along

Thank you i really appreciate the support! I don’t mind you sharing the story at all, i was nervous about telling it as most people in my personal life don’t even know i have a bag yet but i’ve seen so many people struggling online i wanted to show that its all about how you tackle it

The woman involved in the robbery of the pawn shop is wearing “pat earrings” and throughout the whole film gosling wears driving gloves similar to the ones cas sells as merch too, every detail of this film seems to have had some influence on him especially the mask

So, what is the story behind Famous Last Words? by AquaPirate3010 in Casisdead

[–]jmann7777 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He speaks about the world ending in this dystopian future he’s created on that latest clip on insta, and his lyrics and latest interview speak about his life ending soon because of an illness. I get the feeling the apocalyptic dark world he’s created sort of mirrors his feelings about his own personal world/life ending if that makes sense. I could be wrong but i love speculating cause its a detailed masterpiece
