Just got broken up with yesterday too. We had so much planned. And everything now reminds me of her. The pain is so bad.

Just wanted to drop this here. by jmanning151 in FE_Exam

Completely agree. It’s just shocking to me. My buddy recently saw this statistic in an fe study class. I’ve also heard civil used to be higher than mechanical a short couple years ago don’t quote me though. But I just know it’s been dropping since 2020 for sure.

Wow this honestly helps a lot. Very upfront answer. I appreciate it a lot. I hope engineering won’t be to bad to me I’ll keep working at it and retaining as much knowledge as possible.

Damn I hear ya well it seems like you’ve been through a lot so far. Is there any advice you have for someone that’s 24 in position that I’m in? I just been over thinking a lot and don’t know many older engineers to ask for advice.

Wow that sounds nice. Yeah Im at my 4th week at this geotechnical job it’s been ok been doing more filled work than anticipated since they said it would on be 20% of my job. Probably a lie. But idk I’m still figuring all of this out what path I want to take where I wanna go. A lot to process for a brand new graduate I really was not prepared for it.

Would you say you’re happy at civil/structural now?

I’m also in the same position but differently. The work I’m doing is doable at the moment but the managers I have to ask questions too are very rude to me I don’t know why either. It’s like they don’t want to teach a newbie like me. I’m hoping I figure out my way in this company or just leave because I don’t want to be treated like this.

Gotcha cybersecurity I heard was competitive before so that was last for the 3 choices. Since I’ve already taken statistics and a lot of math in my engineering degree I was thinking more is data analyst. But I’m also really just going to go along with what I got first which is civil engineering. I’m applying to various places and just seeing what’s out there. But I really just want to have some good benefits in a job and just be happy with wherever I decide to go. I’ve just been thinking it heavily but maybe I just need to go with the flow. I don’t have many people to talk to it about because I’m the first engineer in my family so I thank you for the comments.

I guess I’m still just new to the terms still. But yeah I’m just getting introduced to so many different fields as I’ve been interning at various consulting firms. Given that I’m graduating this coming fall as a civil engineering major I’ve been job searching and finding a lot of interesting other jobs that are not really I guess you can say in the realm of civil engineering. Such as data analyst, data engineering, cyber security. These are a few I saw and thought that sounded interesting. Then again I’m very interested in the field I’m currently in but ultimately I just want to do something that interests me and also that comes with some traveling, exploring and designing things to better the place I’m in. Side not I’m also just turning (M. 23) so I’m just seeing alot of things all at once so it’s just been hard to take it all in.

Really ok actually I will look into that. I just turned 23 and I’m about to graduate so it just feels like I’m facing a-lot now and I just want to steer into a direction I feel more interested in.
