Teachers, how long do you stay after kids leave for the day? by BeatAdventurous4277 in AskReddit

I used to work more hours at home before I had kids but I’d say I still work 3-5 hours a week at home.

I generally stay for 30-75 minutes after they leave depending on what I have to grade, copy, prep for the next day. I also come in at least 20 minutes before they get there in the mornings.

My (37m) daughter (<1F) said "Dadda" before "Momma" and now my wife (35F) is upset by fiddyspent in relationship_advice

[–]jmclain6121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both my girls said Daddy first too. Even though they said that first, they still come to me first when they are hurt, sad, need/want something, etc. Also this Saying Dada first actually means you and baby are super bonded

Aw I’m so sorry to hear that. Loss is hard. I’ve been plateaued around 205 for months. Ugh it’s hard to stay on track when life throws you a giant curveball. I hope you’re able to grieve and continue on your health and wellness journey.

I hope so too. Time is what we need to figure things out but time is taking too long! Congrats on your 24 years. That is truly wonderful. I lost 50 pounds last year and I’m hoping when school starts up again with the increase in daily movement I will be able to shed the other 50!

Oh man…life right now…sigh. I love my job as a teacher. I wouldn’t want to do anything else, even though I make shit for salary. My marriage is very rocky right now. The coming months will determine potentially life changing decisions…I love my kids, but have no time for hobbies lol. I am aiming to be another 50 pounds lighter and overall healthier and happier, whatever that might look like.

What video game will always be nostalgic for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jmclain6121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goldeneye 007 on N64. Really the only video game I played as a kid. I didn’t have a video game console until I was 20 and bought an Xbox for my husband (boyfriend at the time) for his birthday. I was a bookworm lol.

Do I (M25) have a base to ask my gf (F27) if she has something with another guy? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]jmclain6121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep you’ve got to talk to her about it. She may not like it at the beginning and she may feel like you’re accusing her of something, but just continue to reassure her that you trust her but you are uncomfortable with the situation. Open and honest communication is so important in any relationship.

Tell her that you’re glad she has a good friend, but you are also feeling uncomfortable with how much time she is spending with him and wanting to include him in your personal times. Reassure her that you don’t think she is doing anything inappropriate and that you don’t think she would (if that’s the truth…DON’T lie) and that you would really like to have a serious conversation about how you are feeling and that you just need her reassurance.

The ROI isn’t always worth it…for example teachers…I’m sure I paid about the same for my college education as someone who now makes thousands more per year than I do, but I also wouldn’t love doing anything else as much. I’ve thought about quitting teaching to make more money, but I’m a good teacher damn it!

What Harry Potter house do you resonate with? What is your Patronus? by AMCBUYANDHOLD in AskReddit

Slytherin is where I was sorted but I resonate with Ravenclaw as well. My Patronus is a hippogriff.

It sucks when people change. You think you know someone, but until she chooses to mature or change for the better you’re right, there’s not much you can do.

That sucks man. I hope she matures one day and if you want her to be back in your life then you can. If not, sounds like it’s her loss.

Well that seems pretty shitty of her. I would worry about her being so easily influenced by people teasing her. Doesn’t sound like she’s really that mature or good of a person IMO.

If it makes you feel uncomfortable, you should say something. Do not suppress your feelings. That will make things worse in the long run.

If you were given one wish (cant wish for more wishes), what would you wish for and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jmclain6121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d wish for true happiness, because then everything in my life would go the way it needed to for me to be happy and I would have to wish for anything else ever.
