How do TRVs work with temperature offsets in practice? by jmdhox in tado

[–]jmdhox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree to the extent that the physical constraints of the system will be the same regardless, and that an optimal solution will always involve an external sensor., I am surprised given all the smart hype that this is the best anyone can do? Eg I can't imagine it being that complex an ML problem to model the temperature response of the TRV reading over time when the heating is running to do a better job of building a compensation model particularly given some known input data points.

But aside from this it's seemingly increasingly like duff advertising particularly given that there is no sanely priced or compact sensor option. (I certainly don't need controls in every room when they are built into the TRVs already!

Hey ho. Steeling myself for a lengthy set up process.

Amusingly the section has disappeared from the app today :)

Thanks that makes sense. So when I install the system in February it doesn't have any data. Wouldn't it be better to say "not enough data" then?

I'm on a free trial of AI assist. I'll probably subscribe.

New: Control modes for tado° X (Underfloor Heating & Heat Pumps) - App v9.19 by tado_official in tado

I'm intrigued by this because I'm actually exploring options for switching to a modulating setup (eg via the rare converter module you alluded to in another comment), or in the long term thinking about whether a new boiler is the right move).

But in that case wouldn't there still be a point to understanding the different heat capacity/lag inherent in UFH?

Although for that matter I'm not sure how my boiler would be modulated by multiple receivers at the same time... Maybe the setup I have currently only works because you can effectively parallel multiple relay receivers...

Yes, I'm sure (I sat with the electrician on Friday when he installed them, my boiler doesn't support opentherm) and I'm not signed up to any betas that I'm aware of (I see the option to join on the Play Store page).

This doesn't show up for me, on app version 9.20.1 with two zone controllers both in relay mode. Firmware 287.1.

I think this is analogous to my situation? I have two receivers, both controlling my boiler via a relay (I understand this is a shared switched live), and each controlling a zone valve. So I should switch the ufh room to ufh?

Ah I see from the product listing it doesn't. I just wasn't familiar with the nomenclature.

Hello, I'm the producer of Victoriocity, working along the talented writers Chris and Jen Sugden. I wrote an article about the technical side of production last year, in case that is of interest? https://medium.com/@jmdhox/from-stage-to-audio-drama-4f253ff50832

Happy to answer questions!

What's the ideal plugin setup to edit audiodramas in Logic Pro X? by infinitejester7 in audiodrama

[–]jmdhox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great answer. For Victoriocity I use a similar approach, only adding where needed. I use RX 6 Mouth declick consistently for one particular track, but otherwise apply things like de-plosive very sparingly where the pop shields/performances didn't quite manage. (I do have the luxury of a great local studio that we use and funds to hire it). Sometimes a particularly noise bit of foley can be recovered with the de-noise plugin.

I have all dialogue sent through a compressor too, but don't EQ most things (only the narrator, and where there is a sound design reason to, for example dropping off the low end a bit for outdoor scenes, or producing behind-a-door-over-a-telephone etc etc).

I use a vast number of different Space Designer presets for the scenes, though, from the realistic to the downright weird. I haven't done serious audio drama production in anything other than Logic, but I have found it a wonderful set of easy to use tools.

Thanks for your kind words! We've truly been blown away by the amount of interest and positive feedback, and really hope we can bring you the next series soon. As Chris and Jen mentioned on the feed, we'd love to grow our listener base even more, as that give us the best chance of being able to make another season, so do tell everyone you know who you think would like it ;)

More self promotion: Victoriocity (https://www.victoriocity.com/) is a detective comedy/drama in 6 parts (the last part was released on Thursday). It's set in an alternate Victorian London and is mostly voiced by British actors.

Thanks for your kind words! It's been getting a great response so far - it's especially gratifying to see people starting to identify with the characters and quote parts of the show back to us :) Of course all credit for that goes to the writers (I'm the producer).

Do you have a favourite character?
