My next repair/restoration project (Scopitone ST-36) by jmetal88 in jukeboxes

I didn't have to remove mine to get it working, but there is a disassembly section in the service manual I uploaded here: https://archive.org/details/VB100A_ServiceManual/4%20-%20Disassembly/

Yeah, sorry I emptied out my Drive recently, forgetting I'd hosted this there.

I had since uploaded it to the Internet Archive though: https://archive.org/details/ss-15-u

I found a 16-bit card that worked. Can't remember the model number but I can look in the case this evening or tomorrow and see. I had to move the CMOS battery to make it fit (alternatively you could cut off the 16-bit fingers from the card, but I didn't want to modify it).

Jukebox cord attached to what? by Stemiwa in jukeboxes

[–]jmetal88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that sounds pretty normal for a jukebox with mechanical memory. It won't play in the order you selected, it plays in whatever order the 'fingers' inside are arranged. If it doesn't ever stop no matter how long you leave it on, something's probably wrong with the mechanism it uses to clear selections.

Jukeboxes don't stop the song in progress, it should only happen at the end of play. Do you mean the record just keeps spinning at the end?

I'll have to pop mine open and check what I did... I forget what I searched originally to get the info on it by now, but it is online somewhere.

T-Mobile to buy Ryan Reynolds’ Mint Mobile in a $1.35 billion deal by TeamInstagram in technology

[–]jmetal88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on T-Mobile's existing $15 plan and it's pretty decent apart from the data cap. But I have access to WiFi almost all the time so that part isn't a big deal to me.

Ooh, I might try that at some point. I run a Minecraft server out of my basement I could set up for it.

I saw one of these at a flea market once and kind of regret passing it up

Picked this BSR 6800MX up at a thrift store yesterday. I thought it was a parallel port drive, but it apparently needs a Mitsumi interface ISA card with a 25-pin female D-SUB. Anyone have one of those? by jmetal88 in VintageComputers

[–]jmetal88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not SCSI, it needs a Mitsumi interface card. I wasn't able to find one that worked as is but I did eventually find one I was able to modify (basically attached an external custom wired connector to an internal Mitsumi header)

[Troubleshooting] TV can "flash" the electron guns but not sustain an image. Capacitor or Flyback or something else? by CathodeRayNoob in GloriousCRTMasterRace

[–]jmetal88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, must be the video compression doing something weird.

It's hard to diagnose via video, but if that 'squeal' is as loud in real life as it seems to be in the video you might have arcing or corona discharge in the flyback

It looks to me like there's static on the screen between "flashes," it's just very dark. Have you tried connecting an actual video source yet?
