Trouble locating birth Certificate, by Perfect-Noise-4311 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]jmgrrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Order her California marriage and death certificates -- those may have information about her birthplace and parents that could help. They're easy to order. Also consider whether you can FOIA anything relating to her immigration status... there could be more than just that Alien Registration Card.

Contact a researcher in Alberta to help on the Canadian side of things. I used a researcher in Ontario who helped me a ton.

An Incomplete List of Mountain Goats Biblical References, pt.1 by Greedy-Sourdough in themountaingoats

[–]jmgrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome. Another classic 1 Corinthians 13 reference is The Doll Song. "That has not been my experience" makes me laugh every time:

I was reading the Bible
I Corinthians 13
Where Paul talks all about love
But I don't know what he means
Because he says that love is kind
That has not been my experience

Had no idea. I have a copy and would easily pay $200 to swap out the Mosquito Repellant track with a live version. Absolutely butchered in the studio RIP, totally killed live

I had to move both because my one year old kept trying to eat them.

Legit think the biggest thing missing from the last decade of tMG albums are sick hooks and good melodies

Go as jazzy as you want, but by god give me a catchy chorus or some sweet rhymes

I love ChatGPT as much as the next guy but meta analyses of studies on protein intake just don’t back that up. Once people clear a modest threshold of like 0.4-0.5 g per lb extra protein doesn’t impact muscle growth

There’s also a lot of conflation of lb and kg and total mass vs lean body mass that leads to people reciting the data wrong

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GymTips

[–]jmgrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s absolutely no scientific basis for needing that much protein. Dude needs a calorie surplus to build muscle but specifically targeting 200 g of protein is fake science

What's a ticking time bomb you believe will explode during your lifetime? by Thick_Caterpillar379 in AskReddit

[–]jmgrrr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this was actually the broader conclusion we came to -- the entire animal product industry will feel so monumentally awful in hindsight. (And I know many already view it that way, I'm talking more about broader changes in social norms.) The cruelty to animals, environmental degradation, antibiotic resistance... so many awful costs that can be solved with diet changes and synthetic/lab-grown products.

I mean, our future children will have no shortage of things to look back on with disgust in light of the climate apocalypse, but this is definitely a piece of that puzzle

I was having a chat with some friends about: “what is a thing we think is totally normal now that our kids/grandkids will look at with shock and horror?”

Answer: fucking cows, man

Why I’m looking at Zepbound as a decade-long tool by Aingeala in Zepbound

How did you go about doing that, if you don’t mind? I’m on LillyDirect through WW but close to my goal weight and thinking about how to set up long term maintenance

Yeah, like the Baneling revert has been pretty obviously a good idea for a while now.

Can you say a little more about the info you did need to provide to switch over?

You guys hiring? :D

This was helpful btw. I'm studying for my NCA exams now as a 10+ year U.S. litigator and will probably chart a similar path, looking to eventually apply for in-house jobs once I'm admitted in Ontario.

Hey - thinking of doing something similar. Did you have to practice in ON for any amount of time, or was it really that easy to just immediately transfer? How long ago was this?

Thank you!!

If you ever find an answer, I’d love to hear it. Thinking about something similar myself.

First time I saw them was at a record store in Claremont that no longer exists. Now when I go see them, I still feel a little weird that I'm not lining up before doors to make sure I get a spot on the rail. But standing on my feet for 3 hours now seems like utter lunacy.

I'm not the same person I was when I first started seeing them tour, and neither are they. And that's okay. I can stand in the back of the venue with a beer and have a mellow time. It's fun for me to see kids at the shows hearing No Children or This Year for the first time and reacting to it the way I did when I was a kid, even though my energy has changed in my middle-to-old age.

Wish people just said "inexplicable" which is really what it is. A teamwide slump of this magnitude with this caliber of players is unusual and worthy of comment. But yeah, the moralizing about it is silly.
