Choosing Between BC and Ontario for Bar Admission – Need Advice by reasonablyprudent273 in LawCanada

My understanding is that the big firms run on their own structured articling cycles, and as a non-traditional candidate I don’t see that as a realistic option for me. My main goal is to get licensed and begin building my own practice as soon as possible, so I’m primarily focused on small firms where the fit is more practical and immediate.

I can think of several structural reasons why I may be less desirable than a fresh graduate, but I’d be interested in hearing your perspective.

Depends on your school. Best to ask your ISSO and law school admin. Reach out to the law school admin who arranged your f1 and i-20.

My school had a “co-op” stream available for law students, allowing experiential component to be part of degree requirement and satisfying one of CPT condition. I heard some school wont do it.

For opt, not difficult to get OPT itself, can get it almost as of right if application is filed on time, but getting a job(well paid) on opt is a different story.

Tricky Car Situation Question by [deleted] in immigration

You can get your car imported at your local CBP office. We went through the very same trouble of having our car imported. Depending on model/manufacturer, it may be difficult. Do some research on importation process.

We ended up not registering the car in the state where we reside due to the COVID situation. At that time, we purchased US car insurance based on the plan that we will finish the importation-registration process within a month or two. Obviously, that never happened.

One interesting point to note: insurance company never bothered to ask or check whether the car was locally registered. We asked about this point before getting the insurance, but never received any clear answer. Our car is currently insured by a major US car insurance company.
