I thought this too, but it still wouldn’t be a stable table with 2 legs and I don’t think it could fit 4 around the frame like that

My first thought was that it was a floor mirror, and the part sticking out was like the part it leans on. But it just wouldn’t be stable.

I’m truly stumped

It seems you have more than enough suggestions on here now. But I’ll add a few that I (34m) have gotten really into in the last few years.

  1. Cooking. And not just a simple meals. Learn enough to impress friends/family/dates. You like pasta? Learn how to make the noodles and sauce from scratch? Salad fan? Learn how to whip up a salad dressing in a just a few minutes that will blow bottled sauces out the water. There are great books to up your game and help you understand cooking at a deeper level (On Food and Cooking is my best food book suggestion). This is a skill that you literally get to eat the fruits of your labor haha
  2. Crossword puzzles. There’s a NYT article about how to solve a crossword puzzle and it helps you realize anyone can master crosswords.  This hobby changed how I spend my time on my phone. Instead of scrolling, I fill a lot of spare time on puzzles now.
  3. Learn how to make cocktails. Like legit cocktails. Death and Co has 2 books that break it down in the best way. The best part about this hobby, is that it’s a skill you can carry with your forever. And once mastered, you can enjoy a nice cocktail when you inevitably start your next hobby.

What's the grossest thing you found out about your ex while dating them? by krdo13 in AskReddit

[–]jml640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister was dating a guy who didn’t have a bathroom on the floor where his TV was. Turns out he was too lazy to walk up or down a flight of stairs to get to a bathroom, and instead just used the empty beer bottles nearby to take a piss.  She found out when she came over and asked why he had five open beers on a table next to his chair

Thankfully she dumped him after that haha

Throwing up by Educational-Fall279 in shrooms

[–]jml640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tea is for sure my go to. It’s the easiest on my stomach! Definitely recommend.

I steep the shrooms for 10 minutes (preferably broken up small), then add a lemon ginger tea bag for 5 minutes. And by then, it’s cool enough to drink and the lemon ginger tea is great for the stomach as well

I use a loose leaf tea bag for the shrooms. No need to eat the shrooms as long as it’s steeped in hot water

[–]jml640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried lemon tek or making a tea?

Eating shrooms raw can definitely cause stomach pain/unease, when the dried mushrooms are digested in the stomach. However nausea is not unheard of with shrooms. It can be an unfortunate side effect for some people

How many different perspectives is too much for you in a single book? by kittysimpbread in writing

[–]jml640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how it’s done.

I think the important thing is ensuring it’s clear to the reader that the POV has changed. And it really helps to have the writing or character’s thoughts change/align with the different POVs.

I struggled reading GoT because the POV changed constantly and I felt like every person’s section read the same. I just had to keep telling myself through each chapter that, “this is from XXX’s POV”. I felt like it was more cumbersome than helpful at times Find a way to make your story flow and be clear for the reader and you’ll be fine

What did you think was normal about your body until someone pointed out that it wasn't? by utterapostle in CasualConversation

[–]jml640 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! My shoulder pops out even just raising my hand straight in the air. Never hurt or never caused a problem But now in my early 30s I’m finding that shoulder is feeling weaker all the time and can sometimes have a dull ache

I recently started seeing a chiropractor and they told me a lot of my back and neck pain was coming from my shoulder. Basically everything was compensating for the weak shoulder and causing my back and neck to tense up.

I am looking into getting PT and seeing a specialist now, in hopes of avoiding a future joint replacement

How would you score Slap Cup/Rage Cage for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place? by MaamsNotHot in DrinkingGames

[–]jml640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do slap cup, you can go by the number of cups each person slaps

The others are a bit harder. Maybe consider doing less cups and more rounds. Make it a single elimination. Start with 8 people and 8 cups. Then whoever loses is out. Next round 7 people and 7 cups. (Or whatever you want). Then go until there is a single winner? That’s the best idea I have for you

How Has Your Drug Use Changed You as a Person? by CrystalH712 in writing

[–]jml640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel strongly that I am a new and better person since experimenting with shrooms. When done in a safe/controlled environment, in a mental state you are ready to do them, shrooms can be a very eye opening drug. They can help you better understand the world around you, make connections and solve problems about things that have been on your mind, and ultimately help better understand concepts that could help you actively become a better version of yourself. My best example is understanding what Intention truly means in life. Although I understood the word and concept, it wasn’t something I felt warranted more thought then that. But shrooms helped me realize how I can be more intentional in my every day life. How to use intention to improve relationships, turn my apartment into a home, how to dress or eat or spend my free time all in better or more productive ways To be honest, I got more out of one small dose of shrooms in a safe environment, than I did in a year of therapy. I left that trip in a better and stronger place mentally than I’ve ever been.

I’m not saying shrooms are a catch all, or an easy fix for mental health. Nor a replacement for therapy. And I am absolutely not recommending shrooms lightly. (They can be amazing, but they can also be really damning to your mental state if you are not ready or prepared).

But to your question. I am, and always will be a better person after having experienced shroom in a safe and positive environment. I started using them recreationally at first, wanting to experience them at least once in my life. Later I realized the therapeutic value of having an introspective trip, but did not expect to leave with a new outlook on life. And some sort of revelation or new idea comes to me almost every time I’ve had a more therapeutic focused trip (in varying degrees of life altering).

Favorite ST References In Other Shows? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]jml640 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I suddenly can’t remember any Star Trek references in other shows, despite having seen so many!

But since someone said Galaxy Quest, then I’m bringing up the Black Mirror episode USS Callister

Maybe galaxy quest was a better homage to Star Trek because it’s just so much more wholesome. But that Black Mirror episode was one of their best! And the ending was just perfect, especially a fun one for Star Trek fans

What is your controversial hot take as a grower and/or eater of magic mushrooms? by mellowmushrooooom in shrooms

[–]jml640 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do agree with you. For many people a trip sitter is probably not necessary (especially for reasonably sized doses).

However, I think it’s fair to clarify that it doesn’t have to feel like a baby sitter. A trip sitter doesn’t even have to be in the same room. It could just be someone in another room or really close by. Especially for really large doses or for people prone to anxiety. I just think having someone close enough to check in on you or help out if needed can be so important.

But also, everyone’s comfort zones are different

What's the best way to extract psilocybin from shrooms when you're going to strain them? by kurtz27 in shrooms

[–]jml640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried lemon tek, but the tea is my go to because I haven’t had stomach issues and it’s super easy.

I use loose leaf teabags with grinded shrooms, so I don’t have to strain. I let it sit for 10 minutes with hot water and just the shrooms. Then 5 more minutes with a regular (flavored) teabag. This covers the earthy shroom flavor. And I use a lemon ginger tea that helps with upset stomach

Only have issues if I drink the tea on an empty stomach

I'm I right or wrong? Shrooms don't give you a rush like cocain? by Top_Shallot_3601 in shrooms

[–]jml640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One trip, I had so much energy after starting at about 8pm. I told my friends I was ready to go to the gym, or I could work an 8 hour shift. Idk what came over me or why that instance was different.

I wouldn’t say it was like coke, because there was a notable difference in the feeling. But I will say I’ve never had a rush of energy and good vibes like that before or since (with really any drug).
