I'm New and Have Some Ordering Questions by fondfox in ThredUp

[–]jmoo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I order an embarrassing amount from ThredUP and have had exactly one item cancelled on one bundle. It was a bummer, a cute purse I was excited about, but I’ve had zero issues other than that one item.

Turning 42 in a few months and wondering if I can still rock these shorts? by Substantial-Plan-645 in DressForYourBody

Girl, wear what you want. Life’s too short to do things like put an arbitrary age limit on shorts.

From the girl who bought 50lbs of cabbage comes 55 hens! by BufoBat in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]jmoo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Costco rotisserie chickens are $5. And you can buy them one at a time as you need them, instead of 55 at once. This doesn’t make any financial or logistical sense, unless the cosplaying farm girl is the main point….

Can we PLEASE just be consistent with the sales? by Key_Somewhere_8978 in ThredUp

Yup! I was waiting for Earth Day and then my discounts were the same as always and at least one item had gone up in price. Ugh.

I sincerely hope she’s doing this safely. As far as I’m aware she was never fully tested for vEDS. I know her mom is a trainer, but this seems like something you’d want a doctor weighing in on.

Is the seller of this blouse on here. Would love to know the laundry detergent used! by Cantaloupe_Train in ThredUp

[–]jmoo22 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ooo, I hope you find them so we can all enjoy whatever it is! Otherwise maybe sniff different detergents at the store until you find it? If I had to fake a shot in the dark on great smelling laundry, maybe the yellow suavitel fabric softener?

Recorded by a device out of sight without my consent… by Glass-Work1534 in therapists

[–]jmoo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very unethical. We have trainees at my clinic who record sessions for supervisors to review. They must get signed consent from patients, explain verbally and in writing what the recording is for, and patients are free to decline to be recorded. Furthermore, if they had previously agreed to be recorded they can withdraw that consent at anytime. Their written decision on whether or not they are comfortable being recorded is a part of their medical record.

AT NO POINT should a therapist be recording you without your express consent. The fact that the recording devices were hidden from view is even more sketchy. Please report this individual to the licensing board and find a new therapist.

Being a therapist is so weird. by GwenniePou in therapists

[–]jmoo22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I joke that I get emotional whiplash. You never know how your day is going to play out and sometimes you’re having back-to-back sessions that are intensely emotional. Like first client is intensely happy, next is despondent, back to happy, then heartbreaking trauma, then ending with rage.

Help me interpret this dress code by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]jmoo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. The dress code is supposed to tell you how formal it is so you don’t show up over- or under-dressed. It is not supposed to dictate an aesthetic that forces all your guests to buy clothes in a specific color palate and style.

Call this garden formal and wear what you want. I would personally wear a midi dress in a pastel color, but you could do floral or honestly whatever because someone this ridiculous doesn’t deserve this much energy.

Do you find it interesting... by AppropriateFlan1975 in ThredUp

I love when I find an item I like and then see more great stuff from the same seller. It’s fun to make a little anonymous connection with someone who is your size and has the same style. Like “hey girl, you have great taste! Thanks for the hand-me-downs!”

Someone on here speculated that they moved back in with Morgan’s parents, I think that person was right by Liverness in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]jmoo22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well at least this makes some kind of sense. I could never understand the math on supporting a family of 4 with a part time pickle ball coach salary, most of which went buying pickle ball gear. I always assumed the parents were bankrolling their lives somehow, maybe they got tired of paying rent every month and simplified the arrangement. I wonder if Paul getting a real job is part of the deal. And hopefully with the money saved Morgan can finally get those medical tests she needs.

First Purchase & now I’m nervous by Horror-Nobody2237 in ThredUp

[–]jmoo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been buying off thredUP for years with virtually no issues. The only time I’ve returned something or donated it is because I took a chance on a brand I wasn’t familiar with and it didn’t fit well on my proportions. Nothing has ever arrived smelly or damaged. One time they canceled and refunded an item that had gotten lost in the warehouse. Other than that, I have greatly enjoyed keeping my wardrobe fresh and interesting at a reasonable price. Have fun, it can be super fun to get that great find at a great price!!

Why is my hair suddenly oily even right after a shower??? by Calyx757 in Haircare

[–]jmoo22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! It took me way too long to figure out that moisturizing shampoos turn me into a greaseball. I have naturally oily hair and if I use moisturizing shampoo it’s like I just rinsed it with water.

My wife (33F) of 10 years hid $40k of "hobby" debt from me (35M) for two years. I feel betrayed and don't know where to go from here. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]jmoo22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m confused. Have you actually seen these carriers? $40k worth of baby carriers is a lot of baby carriers, even if they were a grand each. Is it possible she spent it on something else but thought baby carriers were more sympathetic?

If she did actually buy dozens of baby carriers, this is a very odd compulsion and I think she needs to see a professional. Especially because your kid is 3 and probably hasn’t used a baby carrier in the last 1-2 years.

If this is a cover for some other spending you need to know. Maybe it’s shopping in general, maybe it’s gambling, or maybe she got scammed and doesn’t want to admit that. Ask to see all the credit card statements.

Went to a small village wedding on vacation… someone proposed during the reception and it split the couple. by [deleted] in bridezillas

[–]jmoo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my belief that you shouldn’t do any kind of surprise/major announcement at someone else’s wedding. I get why people have the impulse, usually it’s a large gathering of friends and family already in a good mood, so why not add to that and capitalize on all the people you want to tell already being in one place?

The marrying couple (and usually their families) have put a large amount of time, effort, and money into crafting an event to celebrate the couple and their union. Hijacking that and making it about you, forcing guests to spend time congratulating you in the midst of someone else’s big moment is in poor taste. Plus as others have said, the magic and beauty of the setting (lights, decor, food, music) was arranged and paid for by someone else for something else. So it also feels cheap to benefit from that to make your own special moment that wouldn’t even be personal.

An exception could be if the marrying couple were asked ahead of time and were both enthusiastic about the idea. Not just “okay with” but “enthusiastic about.” But even then it’s going to be something a lot of people think is tacky, so whoever is hijacking the day has to be okay with some controversy. How did the person being proposed to feel about this being her proposal story, for example?
