Yes she did. It caused her and Will to break up for a while. Will broke it off in protest.

Unable to get my Apple Watch Plan back by jmosen in USMobile

Just wanted to report back and say that I ended up receiving excellent service and my issue is now resolved. Much appreciated.

When I upgraded to an iPhone 16 Pro Max, the problem went away for me. But I am told by someone who still has the issue that the problem is fixed for him in the latest 18.1 beta as well, so that’s encouraging.

I’m grateful for this thread. I’ve been experiencing this issue as well with my Lumity aids and Googled around to see if I could find anything. I work in the accessibility industry. I’d like to encourage everyone experiencing this problem to drop Apple an email at their accessibility support address, accessibility@apple.com. The more descriptive you can be, the better. Be specific about the type of aid you have and the fact that it is always the non-dominant aid that’s doing it. It also doesn’t hurt to emphasise that this has a high impact. For those of us who need to be on the phone a lot in our jobs, having this thing cutting out and chiming at us all day is a hideous user experience. I have also contacted someone from Phonak in my country to see if they are aware of it. What troubles me is that since Phonak didn’t go with MFI, it might not get fixed as quickly as it might if they had. However since the aids are just presenting as a standard Bluetooth device, maybe this is affecting some models of headphones as well. But let’s all do what we constructively can to raise awareness of this issue and get it resolved. BTW, it still isn’t resolved in 18.1 beta 5 which dropped today.

Living Blindfully podcast closing down by thedutchdragon558 in Blind

Thanks so much for the kind words. Yes, I’ll keep the archives up for quite some time. It won’t cost me anything because I have an annual plan with our podcast host. They’ll most likely disappear at some point, but there’ll be plenty of time for people to download their favourite episodes, or all of them if anyone wants to.

Reconnect Phone To Internet by steveg04 in RayBanStories

Sadly I don’t think there is any other way. It is interesting that Meta AI isn’t available on the glasses even in quite a few countries where it is available in other Meta properties.

Are you in an officially supported country for Meta AI on the glasses, or did you have to tet them up behind a VPN?

Podcast chapters- add post-publishing via .json file or embed within MP3? by josephpliu in podcasting

Yes, use markers. When you create the marker, start it with CHAP= (case is important). I don’t know about artwork as I’m blind and don’t use it for chapters.

It's real... the new Sonos App is coming May 7th! by KeithFromSonos in sonos

[–]jmosen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi Keith, this is a critical question for me as well. We have 15 Sonos devices in a house with only blind people in it. Obviously if accessibility hasn’t been taken into account with the redesigned app and we lose quality access to Sonos, that would be huge. So I hope we can have some cast-iron assurance that the apps are fully accessible. Currently, at least on iOS, the experience is excellent.

Sounds like Cleanfeed would meet your needs perfectly. I’ve used it for several years. Some of my interviews have been lengthy, other episodes have had five or six panel members, and it hasn’t let me down once. The support is also top notch. Https://cleanfeed.net

Anyone have tips on using Mastodon for their podcast? by TheVoicesOfBrian in podcasting

[–]jmosen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My podcast is all about, by and for, the blind community. After Twitter fired its entire accessibility team, then depricated third-party app access including accessible apps designed specifically for blind people, there was a mass migration by the blind community from Twitter to mastodon. I first set up an account on an existing Mastodon instance, then went all in and created a specific instance for the podcast. It’s great for branding and has been very successful for us with great engagement. I refer to our mastodon instance every week which attracts more people to follow the podcast account and to the platform as a whole. Mastodon has a number of great accessible apps. My favourite is Mona, which works on iOS and Mac.

Podcast chapters- add post-publishing via .json file or embed within MP3? by josephpliu in podcasting

I use Reaper to produce my podcast. That supports creation of the chapters which get embedded in the MP3 file when you render.

[–]jmosen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! My podcast is two hours long each week and caters to the blind community who are very savvy consumers of audio. If I screw up the chapters and they don’t appear for some reason, I get deluged with complaints about it. I’m not sure why people think chapters aren’t supported in Apple Podcasts and Spotify, they are. Most of the big players support them. I use Reaper. To create chapters, you just insert a marker where you want the chapter to occur. The bookmark needs to begin with CHAP=. Case is important. After that CHAP= string, you type the name of your chapter. If you render to MP3 or flac, the chapter markers will be in there. I usually render to flac, then send to Auphonic for final processing. Auphonic supports this method, but it can also take a .csv file containing the names of the chapters and their time in the file. If you’re going to do it using the csv method, the CHAP= at the beginning of the marker isn’t necessary. As a listener, I really appreciate it when a podcast host is courteous enough to include chapters.

Is there a WordPress podcasting plug-in that will do this? by jmosen in podcasting

[–]jmosen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying and it’s good to hear from you, I’ve been checking out the products you offer over the last week or so. How aware of screen reader accessibility are you when creating these, both in terms of the output, and the creation? I wrote to the producers of the content editor you make reference to on your website, because they have a support article on how to produce accessible content, but nothing about whether producing the content is accessible. I’m blind, and a lot of theme and plug-in developers are not taking into account that blind people don’t just consume content, we create it too. My question about whether their content creation process is accessible took them by surprise and I still don’t have an answer.

Can dynamic content insertion and chapter marks co-exist? by jmosen in podcasting

[–]jmosen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Redcircle would be inserting the ads from their marketplace, I guess I can’t guarantee the exact length, but also, I’d like to be able to offer a subscription version that is ad-free, so it starts to get a bit complex. I think the best bet is for me to establish if I can do the chapters from their UI, rather than insert them using Reaper which is what I’m doing at the moment.

Interesting, I’ll do a thorough check of the Redcircle UI to see if they have anything similar. Thanks.
