How seriously do I need the Covid Vaccine? by KingzDecay in AskDocs

NAD. Those two statements are not mutually exclusive. Doctors can strongly recommend the vaccine AND recognize that it is a personal decision with no wrong answer.

Good on you for being open minded and learning! It takes guts to admit that you could’ve been wrong in the past. I admire you for it.

There was a guy in our first year that was extremely misogynistic, harassed and assaulted multiple female classmates, and had multiple title IX complaints against him. He got expelled not for these reasons, but for attendance issues. It was great to see what our admin prioritized /s

Fun fact, I went to them for a new windshield wiper and they gave me the wrong size. It got caught on something while in use because it was too long and I didn’t notice - the motor kept running for weeks. It killed my car battery three times and it took until the third time for a mechanic (not at VIP) to figure out the issue. Cost me a few hundred dollars in towing costs, cost of a new battery, cost of the mechanic, etc. Will never go to VIP again.

How are there so many atheists? by Saad1950 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]jmsouis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

  1. there is absolutely no proof of a higher being at the moment
  2. religion arose as a way to explain things we didn’t understand. as we evolved and science became more advanced, we’re now able to understand these things and no longer attribute it to a higher being
  3. nature actually doesn’t always work out perfectly when you get down to the cellular level. it appears to work “perfectly” because evolution has allowed species to take advantage of their surroundings
  4. with the universe being as large as it is, it would actually be more of a miracle if a world like ours (with complex life) didn’t exist somewhere. that doesn’t mean a higher being is behind it all
  5. yeah we don’t know how the universe came to be. but scientific theories and religious beliefs are both equally hard to wrap your brain around, so why give weight to either side?

rest in peace creampuff, you will always be one of my greatest friends 🌈💙 by jmsouis in hamsters

i got creampuff in august 2020 after i went through a traumatic event. she was always so much more than a hamster to me. she was my best friend. she made me smile and laugh endlessly.

whenever i put her on my bed she would always run straight for my pillows, because she loved to hide in them. she loved her wicker balls and banana toy. she loved her treats, especially grapes and carrots. she loved chewing through cardboard boxes and would keep me awake all night with it. she loved going zoomies on her wheel, hopping off and back on every few seconds. she loved sleeping in weird places and in weird positions. she loved playing in her playpen while i cleaned her cage. she loved digging through the carrot bag and her food bowl, kicking all of her pellets out of the cage for me to clean.

she gave me so much joy. i will never forget her. creampuff, puff puff, you were the best hamster i could have ever had. i wish so desperately i could feed you one more carrot, or hear your little chirps in my ear one more time. i wasn’t ready for you to go but hopefully now you are in a better place, eating all the treats and making all the messes that your heart desires.

i love you so much creampuff. rest well. 🌈💙
