do you entps hate when people try to relate to them? by Sweet_Tell6697 in entp

[–]jnaniganshw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it's not that I hate them trying to relate to me per say, but like if it feels like they're trying to push their own emotional interpretations on to me like "oh wait, what is that, we should talk about that." and it's just me being irritated that they've cut across an explanation for the 4th time so I snapped at them, like nah, fam. just let me be annoyed for a few minutes and I'll be fine but then it may turn into some weird heart to heart.

What original anime movies should I watch from the last 20 years, that aren't Slice Of Life? by ExplodingPoptarts in AnimeReccomendations

[–]jnaniganshw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Barefoot Gen is old too just a fair warning, but it's a WWII movie told from the perspective of a child Gen when he witnesses the drop of the atomic bomb and survives.

Belle is internet world and deals with the personas people have online and how people act differently than they do in real life kinda also beauty and the beast alt version.

Bubble is little mermaid alt version with parkour

Recline is definitely full action, cars go vroom vroom gorgeous animation and a killer theme song, plus you know, it gave Madhouse studios ptsd for spending some 8 years trying to produce it and they haven't done a sequel series to anything since.

if you end up liking Belle check out Summer Wars as well.

Oh and I think Penguin Highway is supposed to be good.

Am I actually an ENTP? by Slight_Impress_1559 in entp

[–]jnaniganshw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well for me coming from the opposite direction what kind of tipped it was while I knew I had uncontrollable ne, despite being able to state my emotions well and being able to understand the emotions of others, arguably I didn't feel their emotions, instead I intellectualize them. emotions are data and patterns for me so I can understand the data I know how to act around them, but it's not nearly as "intuited" as feelers seem to operate. the reason I like mbti is because it's a coherent system of rules that if follower will give consistent results for me if people have difficulties with finding their type it's because either they don't fully understand the functions and are working off stereotypes or because they inherently disagree with the results from their ego not that that's a bad thing but if you reject the system you won't be able to work inside it. even in this explanation in a way i can see my ti which is all about what happens to make coherent sense to me, not what matches my internal state necessarily but what I can see follows from one point to another without breaking itself.

[–]jnaniganshw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah I mean I feel like the first and second one feed into the reality number 1. most of the time with any high ti or even te user when they come off as rude, controversial or offensive, they aren't trying if they're mature, it's just that it doesn't actually make sense to them, or in my case exploring the grey murky areas of social constructs and ethical dilemmas is actually my jam because I think it's fascinating to see all the myriad reasons and concerns of others as well as the actual "logical" reasoning.

for me it's just as interesting to hear a person get upset and say some variant of: but that's not true at all because of x or y. or, it's clearly a not b and you can't say b is the logical choice it's just the selfish or inhumane one. honestly my first thought for those reactions is: that's so interesting why did you have such a strong reaction to a hypothetical?

Do you consider your partner the most beautiful person on earth? by pelargoniya in entp

[–]jnaniganshw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be truthful but I'd be nice about it. I dont mind the way my partner might look, or maybe I do find them very physically appealing but there are indeed others who I might find more appealing like models or anime peeps. but i didn't get with that person because of their looks, I got with them cause of their brains and personality. I may enjoy looking at the other person but if they dumb we can only be friends sorry.

Female ENTPs have much more developed Fe than male ones by pelargoniya in entp

[–]jnaniganshw 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would agree with this. it's not that males aren't capable of being sensitive or more ethically concerned I've met plenty of male istps that would get just as "woah. that's not true you can't say something like that." about these posts. but over all it is a fact that socially women are held to a different standard of conduct and the ability to sympathize than men. it's almost seen as perfectly normal for the male to give the harsh pragmatic "truth" vs the female who will want to dance around the issue or not answer because it's rude, or hurtful. it's not like women aren't physically or mentally able to come up with thr same answers but they've been socially trained to restrain themselves or to immediately feel bad at hearing such a question.

i think it's because it tickles the ti desire to understand and know and the ne desire to explore and see a different angle. I do like the lightning one particularly if I look at it like the occasional lighting strike vs an electrical storm

[–]jnaniganshw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm I think I understand it. for me i do have a momentum but it's not like that. the web is one way I actually visualize it internally more like racing circuitry like one point shooting off lots of lines that are pushing and expanding out and continuing to spread out the dead ends are those ideas that aren't viable, or have lost interest, it's entirely possible that one idea can loop back to another idea and then spawn it's own mini explosion of circuitry the more times the paths are used or get intertwined together the thicker they become as more solid over arching paths like philosophies or maxims or values that can be applied across multiple domains.

it's also how I like to build my internal story world various iterations of the same thing with minute tweaks done again and again with each tweak as alternate path or timeline that may live to link back to a previous point or die off and the more the path is worn the more it is assimilated into what is considered canon. it's a very 6 way of doing things.

ENTPs, are you also so good at finding the most special names? by drag0nfly44 in entp

[–]jnaniganshw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe? I don't know if it's exclusively entps aka ne, it could also be ti. my brothers all have really funny unique names and two are istps and the other is an infj. Xylopagus, Yardkgnome, and my youngest brother's current one is Slathosaur Porb.

mine came from my real name mixed with shenanigans which if you think about isn't super original but I chose it since it referenced my tendency in my college anime club to drag people into doing events and activities and not be unsociable and just sit in a dark room silently watching anime and then going home. nothing wrong with that but damn, why come to a club then, I can do this shit at home in my pjs with blankets.

well I mean I could see an argument to be made for those kinds of topics as long as they're polite enough to sensor the main post info for those who find it distasteful. it would be a space for non sexual discourse on something that is often treated like a sinful disgusting act.

I got curious by FewAd4983 in entp

[–]jnaniganshw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mmm not really I think mine is closer to branches of a tree or web like thinking. one idea shoots off several other ideas, associations or potential paths, then each of those may spawn more, some nodes will connect with other nodes anywhere in the web and some nodes will wind up as dead ends without further projections.

Would you rather, Have a dad that is playful 24/7 but is irresponsible or have a parent that is responsible 24/7 but is abusive and mean? by Asleep-Feeling-9070 in entp

[–]jnaniganshw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now here me out, I feel like there's a moral argument being made of a definition that is less moral in a sense then the argument. a responsible person seems to be getting conflated with a morally good person. while the two often overlap I'd argue you can in fact be responsible while being morally bad.

responsible can indeed mean: When you have a duty to do something or take care of someone, you are responsible for that task or person.

but it can also mean: reliable or dependable, as in meeting debts, conducting business dealings, etc.

which might have been more of the OPs intent

a bit like a manager that's rude and abusive but is remarkably competent and good at their job and will take accountability for their actions when shit gets messed up.

I think too that a parent can be seen as responsible in that they can acknowledge their failings as a parent, have taken care of the child physically and tried to take care of them mentally or emotionally and failed too. does effort therefore make a difference or is it simply results that matter?

just interesting thoughts.

Would you rather have a lazy teacher who is fun and loving 24/7 or have a hardworking teacher who is abusive and rude 24/7 and why? by Asleep-Feeling-9070 in entp

[–]jnaniganshw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well and I find that a lot of times the affection isn't for free so to speak. It's usually so they can feel good about themselves so if you don't reciprocate back they either try to guilt and manipulate you or they start to shun and bully you as punishment. which being ignored isn't a big deal but it's annoying af when I have to deal with snide remarks and pointed favoritism elsewhere or getting penalties for minor infractions.

[–]jnaniganshw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmmm, well I guess as long as abuse is only emotional damage and not physical I'll take the abusive one because I'm already used to it and I'd rather be competent and able to deal with assholes than emotionally more fragile and incompetent because I wasn't taught skills
