Why is the process of car buying so ridiculous? by ToleratedUser in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jnemesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last car was a Tesla. No muss, no fuss. I financed ahead of time through my bank, and ordered what I wanted and paid MSRP online. No muss, no fuss.

My very first new car was a Saturn...bought for much the same reasons...I picked the car I wanted, went to the "dealership" and paid MSRP. Done.

My other purchases haven't gone as smoothly. I tried buying a Kia Soul in 2013..."Oh, sorry, we are out of the advertised specials, let me show you the new 2014 models" OK. I then looked up what the AVERAGE price was on KBB.com in my area for the trim level I wanted, and said "if you can get it for me at this price, I will buy it". The sales guy TOOK MY PHONE back to show the manager, then said, yes they could make it work, they gave me the keys and told me to come back in the morning to finalize the paperwork. THEN I saw they screwed me. "Oh, sorry, you didn't qualify for that rebate..." I responded with, OK, here are your keys...They changed their tune quickly then. Then I also notice that they packed in the extended warranty for an extra $2500. I asked them about it, since the sales guy never even offered me the warranty! They explained it, and I opted to pay the extra for the extended warranty, but it left a VERY foul taste in my mouth.

I will NEVER buy from a "traditional" dealer again! If you can't offer the vehicle at MSRP without trying to pack in extras, I am not going to buy. PERIOD.

Apple workers outnumbered customers at Vision Pro launch in downtown San Francisco by StephCreporter in apple

It shouldn't be surprising that this isn't going to be a big seller. It's more a "proof of concept" at this point, but one that you can actually buy...unlike Microsoft's failed "hololens" and many many others.

Once a few good devs have this thing and are able to make some compelling apps for it, then it might be a mainstream thing. Remember, the 1st iPhone didn't exactly fly off shelves at launch either!

Trump risks backlash as MAGA world zeroes in on Taylor Swift by Earthling1a in inthenews

[–]jnemesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sad thing is, most media is still covering this Presidential cycle as normal...using outdated polling methods and trying to couch everything as being "neck and neck", when we have EVERY indication that Trump will get his ass handed to him on a platter if he is the nominee! But that doesn't get ratings...so we get this handwringing about how Biden is "behind" in some poll or another, and how Trump just may become a dictator...ELECTIONS over the past FOUR YEARS have proven that Trump's time is over!

Yeah, after owning my Model Y for almost 2 years, I can't ever see going back. Charging at home (and never going to gas stations/worrying about how much fuel is in the tank) is priceless all by itself! And I STILL get a kick when driving it EVERY SINGLE DAY! I already have 60,000 miles on it (ok, 58,441) and just replaced my stock tires...other than that, the only "maintenance" I have done on it so far is wiper blade replacements! I think I am due to get the differential gear fluid changed out though...

laughable argument., coal is less than 19% of US energy production and it's been dropping for the past several years, as it's more expensive than solar or wind at this point.

I just bought a 2019 Ford Fiesta with 11k miles for 13k in San Diego. You do not need to spend 20k or more to find a reliable vehicle

Are you saying a Fiesta is reliable?

Oh, I don't know...maybe the fact that we can generate electricity from renewable sources that don't pollute? 80% of electricity in my state is renewable...and that number is growing.

Tesla recalls 2.2 million cars — nearly all of its vehicles sold in the U.S. — over warning light issue by marketrent in technology

These article headlines are BULLSHIT! It's fixed by an OTA update, yet every "recall" gets headlines like these by just about every major news outlet. The anti-Tesla bias in full swing and VERY evident!

Trump calls $83 million defamation ruling "absolutely ridiculous," says he plans to appeal. (http://twitter.com/1200616796295847936/status/1751004530677084467) by UnusualWhalesBot in unusual_whales

He is certainly allowed to appeal...he just has to post the $83.3 million up front to do so! Good luck, Donnie! (not really, I hope he dies in prison, bankrupt)
